I think normal vr controllers are just a novelty until hand tracking is perfect. Because most of the time the controllers try to mimic hands. What’s better than mimicking hands? Using real hands!

Developing the hands tracking technology for basically using every finger on a virtual keyboard will mean that the Quest of the future will replace most of the PCs and laptops: it will be smaller and powerful, huge multiple virtual screens set-up, pass-through color vision, office and productivity apps, 3D VR designing, wired or wireless streaming to printers. That is going to be awesome.
Hey man I hope you get one. The quest two is a great option for starting out, I wanted one for years and the first one I got was the quest 1. Don't worry if you have to wait, because I'm sure if you really want one you will be able to get one in a matter of time. The longer you wait the sweeter it is when you finally have it!
I'm sure in the future their will be a suit or gloves you can put on(like in ReadyPlayer1). Which will use your hands in-game, and you will be able to feel everything inside the game. Essentially a second universe that feels the same or even better than real life.

When I put my controllers down and stick my hands out, it doesn’t work even when I have the it the controllers down setting. The hands disappear from the controllers, but don’t track my hands.
