There isn't a lot of info out there on the science and anatomy of vocal fry and screaming. I've heard that a prevailing theory is that despite it's low sound, a lot of growls are actually higher because it involves constricting of the airway, thereby increasing pitch, but since your false vocal folds are activating to cause the scream, it sounds low. Not sure if I explained anything or not 🤣
