    Stoked that everyone could hear this! It really was a wonderful surprise and I can't wait to send in the rest of the samples soon!

      Dude, everybody loves your voice. This was so great. Thank you again for letting us hear your clips. It's really eye opening stuff and I'm not sure I would have pulled the 416 as my first comparison, but you nailed it.

    Got the baifeili 414 and I love it! At first I was disappointed at the low output, however after compensating for this with a little more gain I soon realized that it was not an issue. The thing is very open sounding, and doesn't sound Hyped in the top end. I lt's great!!!! Thanks for the referral! Dave.

    That comparison is insane comparing between these two mics with such a wide split in prices. I can't wait to hear BaiFei Li V10 on your voice!
    Also have you had any experience with Octava mics? I've been hearing some buzz about their MK 319 especially for the presence and heft in it's sound profile

      Right? $80??? I should have a V10 in hand this week, so probably next week. Sorry to say no experience with the Octava mics. I know people love them.

    I think eventhough 416 has more body, it doesn’t justify 10x price tag. There are though few more advantages on 416, battle tested, workhorse and rugged and primarily designed for film sets. But $1000+ is a steep price for sure.

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  Год назад +2

      Right? There is no reason that the 416 should still cost as much as it does. I wouldn’t recommend replacing with a V10 on a film set boom pole, but for a VO starter kit to get close enough to dub one in for the other, or as a backup, I’d take a V10.

  • @HeathcliffBlair

    Thanks. After shipping etc, it works out around the same price as a Behringer B-2 Pro which has the advantage of pads, cuts, and three selectable polar patterns. Even without all that, I'd guess they sound pretty similar. But who knows? Maybe a comparison would be useful. TBH, I get a little nervous when people report that a 416 and a no-name brand have comparable quality. Apart from anything else, the 416 is designed for quite different usage situations.

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  Год назад

      Nobody said they had comparable quality. It was just being remarked that Jar found they surprisingly sound similar. Enough so that, in a pinch, if you had to cut in a pickup for a spot originally done on a 416, you could probably easily dub the V10 in if you had to. That's the kind of VO shit we talk about around here. Fuck Behringer. Nobody is saying hang a V10 off a boom pole. LOL.

      @HeathcliffBlair Год назад

      @@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff Aren't "comparable quality" and "surprisingly similar" the same thing? Also, take my word for it: darn near ANY cheapo Amazon mic with sufficient post processing can pass for a 416 in a quickie insert situation. No one will notice UNLESS it outstays its welcome. P.S. Behringer's gear is fine for the money. I'm almost convinced that the people queuing up to slam them haven't used their stuff. I've used a fair amount of it, and only had one dog - a mic indeed! Their C4 SDC. Total POS. 😆 Their other stuff's been fine though. Cheers.

    V10 sounds like a great mic. I actually bought a couple of the BaiFei 414s you recommended and was super impressed with how they sound. I mean really impressed. I think it sounds just as good as the AKG 214 which I owned years ago. Don't you think these V10s resemble an Austrian Audio OC818 Mark?

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  Год назад +2

      Totally. It looks just like an OC818, but with the body cutout of the JZ V67. Glad you like the 414's. They're ridiculous for that price. I was curious how they stack up to the C214. I have a feeling it's the same circuit and type of capsule.

      @@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff I think you're right. At literally 1/5th of the price. I notice Baifei also has a 47 style mic that kinda resembles a Telefunken TF47. I mean, I bet it sounds great as well. I love where the industry is going where you can get such quality sound from a sub $100 mic...crazy...As you say, "take my money" lol

    I am not shocked. Shotguns work differently and good shotguns are rare. If it was a shotgun for 100 bucks, I'd buy it in an instant. That said, it's still a great deal.

  • @pauljohnson4590
    @pauljohnson4590 Год назад +1

    It's a nice sounding mic - but the 416 is hardly a mic to compare it with. A normal car driving at 40mph vs a performance car at 40mph - not quite the same as if you did it at 70mph? Loads of mics, close in, on a nice voice do a great job. They fail, however and background noise capture, quiet or very loud sounds and mechanical noise. I like the sound of the mic, but if I wanted a short shotgun, I'd not buy it. If I wanted bells and whistles? Same thing - but as a recording here, it's great. Theyre getting a lot of coverage, very quickly.

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  Год назад

      Yeah, in an extreme pinch, if I had to dub in a V10 to cover a donut for a spot done originally on a 416, I could get away with it. I don't think Jar is advocating anyone toss their 416's aside. It's a noisy fucker, but it does clean up with Hush enough to win a 'bang for your buck' honorable mention at that ridiculous price.

    не знаю точно про V10. Но общался с продавцами BaiFei Li . C414, V6,v7 совершено одна плата распайки, один капсюль.. Начинка одинаковая и звук не может отличаться.. Разница только в корпусе и аксессуарах. Как то так.

      Yeah, with the exception of the v5, all the 34mm capsule mics they sell have the same Schoeps style transformerless circuit and capsule. The only tonal differences are what the headbasket imparts.
