....22 years LATER, and I'm seeing ths Video for the FIRST time!! ...Sting was in his late 40's / early 50's here, & looking in surprisingly spry shape....a LOT of those intricate moves he did could've hurt him! ...Unfortunately, "After The Rain..." bombed, due to being the follow-up to the MASSIVE "Desert Rose", that was still receiving airplay when it was released...A shame, because Sting was never this 'upbeat', until the Shaggy collab Album.....
Firstly this should have been a Police song, but what a masterpiece this record is. Sting in full flight. Showcases what a brilliant lyricist and story teller he is (and romantic). His effortless voice soaring throughout and Dom's beautiful guitar lyrics. Keyboards floating. This man has so much in his locker, it's unfair on other artists. What a back catalogue. Song builds and build to its inevitable brilliant crescendo leaving the audience totally sated. Genius.

He talks about a love story, a thief and a princess, but in video there are many hands and a strange scenario where Sting makes athletic movements. What it means?

Such a great story where he makes love to the princess then when she wakes up both he and her "jewels" are gone. ;-) The version in the nightclub is better, with Sting partying with all the girls and all the boys outside trying to break the door down, when they finally do, the girls are suddenly all gone and Sting just smirks at them...
