Thank You! I really enjoyed your video. lately I've been feeling a little discouraged about applying for grad school, I am only applying to one school as well and your tips are really a great help to me. Thanks again *fingers crossed* I reallllllly hope I get in!
This is awesome! I'm going into my 3rd year as an undergraduate, majoring Elementary Education. I am also planning on attending grad school to receive my masters after I graduate. Great insight! Thanks for the great advice ❤
Hey, so i dont know if you'll see this comment since its been years. But I'm also doing my bachelors in elementary education and i was wondering if i would be eligible for a psych masters program. Just wanted to know how your experience went
This video was exactly what I needed! Thank you so much for taking the time to go through the whole process. I'm planning on applying to the Social Justice Education program through OISE as well. The only thing is that I'm coming from the US. I'm assuming you're a Canadian citizen, but I'm wondering how the process looks like for US applicants. Thanks!
im not sure about the process of international students. you would have to further explore that with the actual school...and yes i am a canadian citizen. good luck in the program :)
Great video! I'm planning to start my MEd at OISE this Fall too! Do you have any tips on time management? I hope to work part-time while studying and trying to figure out how to manage it all
Thanks so much for the video, it was very informative! I know that the program is not meant to lead to a PhD, but do you still have the option to do it if you wanted to? Or would you have to apply for the MA and start the program from the beginning?
Hi, great video! You mentioned that you got a grant for $4000. Would you mind sharing where you got the grant from? I am entering my first year at OISE as an MEd student and am looking for grants.
Hi, thank you for such a great informative video! I was wondering if you could tell me where you worked during your year off that related to counselling? I've been volunteering at the distress centre but I'd like to get an actual paying job that relates to the mental health field or a job that involves working with professionals in the counselling/ mental health field.
Hi, thanks for sharing your experience, its been very helpful. I'm currently applying for an MEng program, so this is just what I need. When you talked about the basic requirement you made mention of "your final year grade"; does that mean just your final year grades irrespective of other years?
Hi! This video was so informative! Thank you!! I'm considering my Masters in Counselling Psychology at Oise UofT OR Yorkville University (online program). You mentioned that you learned more from your classmates than your teachers at Oise. Did you find that you were doing a lot of research and studying on your own? Did you feel the classes/lectures benefitted your learning or you could have done all of this online as well?
Hi, i have 2 friends who completed the same program at Yorkville and they too have been successful once completing their program. OISE does look good on your resume though and i find it beneficial in terms of making connections and networking within the field. Everything was taught by other students in all my classes so its still a teach it myself type of program in my opinion. With that being said, yes i could've done this program online just fine, however i am happy i chose t do the in class route. i hope this answer helps you and good luck!
I also wanted to ask your experience in finding a job after graduating from this program. Are there jobs out there in GTA for this field? Also, what is the pay range? I am looking into Oise UofT, Yorkville and recently started thinking about Social Work (MSW) as I see so many jobs for MSW than Counselling Psychology so I wanted to know your experience as I want to make sure I make the right decision. Thanks.
Thanks a lot for this very helpful video:-) , I was just wondering if they only consider final year grades does that mean that for a program with an application deadline in winter, do they only look at your grade from the fall and the previous summer terms?
from my understanding they would only look at your grades for the first semester depending on when you get accepted however i would advise that you call the admissions office to clarify
How high do your marks have to be to be competitive? I have poor marks in my first few years of undergrad but have turned things around and this is one of my top programs
This video is so helpful! I’m starting my masters at UofT this fall. I’m wondering what activities or opportunities there are for graduate students. What would you recommend grad school students do at UofT
Im glad you found this video helpful! Goodluck with your Masters this coming September! And although i was really involved during my undergrad, i wasnt during grad school so unfortunately i dont have much insight on good things to get involved with on campus
Hello, do you know if it applies the same for international students? In respect to the final year grade thing. If it is like that, I'll definitely be there some day :) My first years at college were a little dark haha.
Omg we have the same name!!! Mine is spelled Charnele 🤗 I’m definitely subscribing because of your name plus great video.... I’m in grad school now for Health Science I want to pursue a career as a biostatistician or epidemiologist
If you mentioned you were black on the application, you'd get special consideration, I was told because UofT is trying to fill it's quota of being 'diverse'. It's just something I heard while at UofT.
What did you major in at Waterloo? I went there as well. I did psychology. I believe that would be the perfect fit for the counselling program. I actually know someone from undergrad in psychology who went to OISE for it. I myself went to OISE for a Bed. U of T attracts the best, but unfortunately OISE is really PC. I'm not sure I'd want to go back.
Hi! I hope you're going to respond with this comment. I am currently a 2nd year psychology student here in Philippines. I'm studying in a prestigious university here (one of the top 10), MSU- Iligan Institute of Technology. I understand that our education system is quite far from Canada. I just wanted to ask if there is a possibility for me to take my Masters Degree in the field of Clinical Psychology and Counseling in UofT? How big is that possibility? What are the qualifications? Requirements? Tests that I will be taking? Thanks.
www.oise.utoronto.ca/aphd/UserFiles/File/CCP-CP_2016.pdf Hello Gerald, go to page 18 on the link above and you'd find the GPA requirements. Note, CCP requires the GRE so start preparing for that. You might also need to write IELTS or TOEFL for English Language proficiency. You'd need at least 2 letters of recommendations (LORs) for some programs 3 LORs; 2 academic and 1 professional. You're in your second year so start volunteering in research fields that you find interesting and if you know your population of interest i.e children, youth, adults or geriatrics, start working with them as well. Look up the professors in CCP and start matching your CV to meet their research interests so that when you apply, you are a perfect match for your professor of interest which = higher chances of being accepted. I don't advise that cos a professor's research focus might change. Ultimately, do what interests you and find a professor that does what you like, who knows, maybe outside UofT. You'd also need to write your personal statement and CV. Contact OISE and ask them if there's anything else you need especially because your undergraduate degree is outside Canada. You don't want to be blindsided last minute. It's really good that you are thinking about this now. I wish you the very best. Good luck!
Thanks you so much @toluwa adewole for that info. I just want to ask if UofT offers Graduate Programs which are related to Industrial/Organizational Psychology. I did research about there Grad Programs in Psych but I/O Psychology was not included. I want to pursue that field in case if it will be offered or it has been offered already but if not then I'll probably be in Clinical Psych. Thanks. :)
No, UofT doesn’t have graduate school in I/O psychology but I hope that doesn’t make you decide to pursue a career in Clinical Psychology at UofT when there are some other great schools in Canada that do offer I/O Psychology such as University of Waterloo, Western University, University of Calgary etc. Meanwhile, some schools have it under a different program and refer to it as Organizational Behaviour under Business or Management as opposed to Psychology. At Rotman School of Management in UofT, they have an Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management PhD program. I don’t know anything about it or how it relates to I/O psychology. You should look that up if you’re interested. However, remember that it only matters that you succeed and love what you do, not the name of the school.
Toluwa Adewole , thank you again for that info. Actually, I also kinda like Clinical Psychology(one of my dream profession is becoming a clinician) but I really need to be practical and I want to choose a career that I will really love, kinda easier, and in demand and that is I/O Psychology... yeah.. I feel a little bit sad cause UofT is one of my dream schools (hopefully they'll open I/O Psychology related programs soon, I'm still 2nd year and there are many things that can possibly happen in the future). Anyways, as what you've said there are lots of great university in Canada and those universities also has great standards I should still have to open my mind for a lot of possibilities.
can you tell me that, when exactly original sealed transcript that i have to send to U of T . is it at the time of application or after receiving of admission offer?
If anyone know in depth about the MT oise program please send me a message. I have tried to get info as to how broad this Master degree and what it can allow one to achieve apart from being a teacher but again info is limited.
You have days off based on the times of your courses. i organized my schedule so that i had classes back to back but only had school 2 days out of the week
Hi! I'm currently looking into this program and I really appreciate this video! It is super informative and specific to what I'm looking to do. I was wondering if there would be able way for you to send me a sample of a successful statement of intent. As the requirements are extremely vague I'm feeling pretty lost on where to get started with one. Or if you know of any resources that would be able to provide me ideas/ samples - that would also be appreciated! I can leave my email somewhere, if you would feel comfortable with that. Additionally, I was wondering what sort of extra curricular activities you had on your resume. As of right now I have completed a number/ have some lined up, but it would be most beneficial to see a successful applicants list! Again thanks again for the informative video!
That's strange that the jobs you applied for you were over qualified. I'm considering a master's because that seems to be the degree they want if you don't have a BSW
Hello, I'm from India and in 11th grade. I'm looking forward to seek education from University of Toronto on clinical psychology. Please can you give me some more information about the psychology department?
Thank You! I really enjoyed your video. lately I've been feeling a little discouraged about applying for grad school, I am only applying to one school as well and your tips are really a great help to me. Thanks again *fingers crossed* I reallllllly hope I get in!

hey i was with a company called ceridian life works
Great video!! What do you mean B+ average in final year? Last 10 classes or 20? or overall
In my last year I had 8 classes i believe so you needed to have a b+ average across those classes
Hi, thanks for sharing your experience, its been very helpful. I'm currently applying for an MEng program, so this is just what I need. When you talked about the basic requirement you made mention of "your final year grade"; does that mean just your final year grades irrespective of other years?
hey, yes just my final year grades
omg that is my dream program
Hey, no they do not but its a possibility to help profs with certain courses or programs they may run
Girl I subbed as soon as I realized you from the T.O
lol thanks for subscribing

I never knew that but that does make sense. Thanks for sharing
Where did you school for your undergrad?
University of Waterloo

Hi,
Why did you chose the MT program? How is the workload for the program? Do you have any days off ?
i did the masters of education program and i explained why i chose that program in the video. thanks for watching
Wait I am confused at u of t has a mEd?? Do you know anything or anyone who did the MT oise program?
If anyone know in depth about the MT oise program please send me a message. I have tried to get info as to how broad this Master degree and what it can allow one to achieve apart from being a teacher but again info is limited.

Currently 2nd year student for OISE MT for I/S Chemistry and Biology. :)

was it hard for you to get a B+?
no it was not, as long as the work was done and theres proof you have an understanding of the concept then you are good
What grant was that that you applied to?
i do not remember what its called but you can find a few in the financial aid office. It was specifically for OISE students
That's strange that the jobs you applied for you were over qualified. I'm considering a master's because that seems to be the degree they want if you don't have a BSW
thanks great video I'm considering a master's at OISE too
Hello, I'm from India and in 11th grade. I'm looking forward to seek education from University of Toronto on clinical psychology. Please can you give me some more information about the psychology department?
is u of t hard please ?
yes it is
