- Let’s look back at this classic J.League match in 2007 when last place and already relegated team Yokohama FC faced league leaders at the time Urawa Reds in the last game of the season. Reds were only a point ahead of 2nd place Kashima Antlers and have an easy task of beating the Yokohama side to lift the trophy. The game didn’t turn out as they expected for Reds as Yokohama FC gave it their all and had nothing to lose before being relegated. Kazuyoshi Miura, aka King Kazu, made an assist in Yokohama FC’s 1-0 win in the end and left Urawa Reds trophy-less after Kashima Antlers defeated Shimizu S-Pulse putting them in the champions spot.
Yokohama FC and Urawa Reds are set to face each other this Saturday, September 11th in Matchweek 28 of the 2021 MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE.
