Fantastic. A lot of damn hard work, but just look at the result. Another piece of our military and transport heritage saved. Well done and thanks for the great video.

Superb film! I remember going spud-bashing when I was a child in the 50s. My Mum and I were picked up with a lot of other Mums and kids in a QL, taken to the fields for the day and dropped back home at the end of the working day. I loved the smell of that old lorry, the fumes and the dust! Your film was so evocative, and brought back memories of some very happy days in my childhood. Thank you so much.

Absolutely love this! It just encapsulates the immense effort that goes into restoring historic vehicles such as this QL and then the pleasure of driving them. Because you can. Top notch.

brings back memories in the mid fifties i was a driver in the rasc and had to drive the ql and keep it serviced and clean, they had a caravan or office on their backs were used by monty during the war, governed to do no more than 30mph they were not much fun to drive, but nice to see one so well restored well done.

This brought back great memories, I served in the RAF in Egypt 1953 - 1955 as an MT fitter, worked on and drove many QLs, one of the best products to ever come out of Luton. I would have loved to hear some live sound, nevertheless this is a great video and a fantastic restoration.

My grandfather told me so many nice things about Bedford used during WWII in Magnitogorsk USSR. Got them by land lease... And he said they didn't know any better Soviet trucks after the war was over and all the vehicles were brought back to England. I remember some particularly interesting stories about Bedford's tyres. The rubber being made of natural indian caoutchouc. So, they didn't have to inflate them in years! Nails were easily ignored and not counted!

We had about 30 QLs in our Royal Engineer Regiment,in Germany in the early 1950s. They either went with the regiment to Cyprus ,or remained in Germany
I do not know which as I left as well.

There was an old QL dumped in a field at Tokers Green back in about 1971. We sat in the cab- it was a bit of a mess but probably no worse than this one- in some ways more complete. I suppose it was dragged away to be scrapped but it exuded military toughness despite its woebegone condition.

I remember late 50's in Germany, the RL replaced the QL. Seems like yesterday! The MT boys found them frustrating to drive because the replacements had fixed windscreens which in hot weather restricted ventilation and in cold snowy weather made cleaning off excess snow by hand almost impossible. Later models were I believe modified.

the Bedford is a credit to your hard work 'its a pity the people in charge of companies such as vauxhall bedford and british leyland did not put more money in their world beating trucks than the car side when you think of the many j types still earning their living out in parkestan and afganistan . you don't see many other makes of truck standing up to the punishment of that terrain all these years later.

We where driving from Belgium to Dunkirk( France) on the ferry and to the W&P festival in Folkstone U.K. Great experience it was. Next month we do a much greater challenge do drive her all the way down to the Normandy beaches for the 70th anniversary of D-Day landings. This will cost some, because its a 1000miles round trip with 3500cc engine running on fuel :-D But it will be great to see her back in Normandy after all this years. fingers crossed that we make it!!

The Dynamo isn’t quite the same as the one on the MWD / OYD models. The terminal box looks rather superior.

Hi Mark,We are based in Belgium near Ypres. The QL belongs to a friend who also restored it. For the moment he is on a new project. a 1944 Morris commercial C4 radiobox. The aim is to complete it for the 75th D-Day anniversary in 2019.
