    If you run into a big, tall man with a limp, that's my Dad. He was in the merchant marines for about fourty years and was a member of the Seafarers' Union. He lived in Baltimore on Albemarle Street, above a bar called Ricky and Sadie's. He also hung out in NYC while waiting for ships at the union hall. He would go for coffee and conversation at the Stork Club in the early morning, with Sherman Billingsley, the owner, and J. Edgar Hoover and Walter Winchell. Dad was a worldly man who travelled to many places and could keep you awake all night, with stories of his adventures. Don't be afraid of his ghost...he's very sociable.

      Pat Cavanaugh Awww... That reminded me of my father who was in the USAF and was a test pilot at Edwards AFB working on one of the initial C-130 Hercules cargo planes (C-130B?). I was born there, but he retired after 20+ yrs in the military and moved shortly thereafter. I was the youngest so I didn’t have any knowledge of military life or what it was like for my oldest sister and brother to go through the years when my dad went to war. He had lots of stories. I miss him.

      Kitterz, my dad was also an undercover agent for the CIA. He hated drugs and wanted to do all he could to fight against them. He loved to talk politics and knew a lot more than he divulged.

      Pat Cavanaugh That’s so cool (and dangerous)! My dad wanted to go on one of the Apollo missions, but they scrapped the later ones and then he aged out of the program. The only thing I can brag about was my parents regularly played Bridge with Ed White, Gus Grissom, and their wives while stationed there. My mom said Pat White was never quite the same after Ed died and she’d lost touch with Pat after she’d remarried-until she found she’d committed suicide. I know Dad wasn’t close friends with Ed White, because Ed was really athletic and worked out all the time which Dad wasn’t that way. Ed never drank either (which was the norm back then) and Dad told me drunken party stories.

      Kitterz, lol... my dad told me that Sherman Billingsley, owner of the Stork Club in New York, was diagnosed with cancer, back when the "C" word was never uttered out loud. He shot himself in the head, but it was not acknowledged publicly. I didn't hear about it until the early 1960's when my dad and I were up all night, killing a jug of red wine and catching up. We had been out of touch from the time I was five until I was married with children. My husband had been in the merchant marines before we met, and he had a paper called the Seafarer's Log, from Baltimore, Md. My dad's name was on the list of Sailors in Drydock, which meant "in the hospital" so that's how I got in touch with him and we were reunited. It was truly a story for Lifetime Movie Network. I am a great-grandmother now, with a total of nine grandchildren and one on the way, which includes two great granddaughters and one great grandson due in March of next year. I have four grandsons and three granddaughters, plus the two great granddaughters and the one great grandson that's due, which makes ten altogether. The yard goes on and on..... I love the song, MacArthur Park. If you have never heard it, you should google it and you will love it.

    • @kitterzy
      @kitterzy 7 лет назад +2

      Pat Cavanaugh I’m nowhere near being a grandmother at the moment. I have 2 teens and I’m 47 yrs old. I’ve heard the song because I was raised like a Baby Boomer. My brother and sisters were from that era My oldest sis and I are 16 yrs apart and I had children late (age 30/32), so I’m not in the grandparent league yet.😊 It’s so strange to be the youngest and to have missed out on those years. I suppose it was for the better because I had a dad that had a 9-5 job and was home on weekends. He passed away almost 5 years ago.

Brought home John Peer Nugent's "White Night: the Untold Story of What Happened Before - and Beyond - Jonestown," publication date: 1979. The Jonestown massacre took place November '78.

    I would probably go up to the roof and figure out how to open that glass skylight to let the red tail hawk escape and then something would go wrong and I would get hurt. Just like when I saved a dog from running into traffic and ended up falling and breaking my arm and needed 2 pins put in during surgery. Good idea to let it find it’s way out.

    And then, to keep your shoes tied, take the loops of the bow and tie another simple knot. LOL
    Heck yeah, I like your idea of turning the last room into a loft!! Glass brick in the windows with a view of the container yard, floor to ceiling triple-glazed view of the water!! Plenty of light for an artist, lots of room for equipment and/or an office, plus comfortable living spaces!! I hope you're right about the building being saved!!
    Thanks for posting, enjoyed the video, as usual.
