my upbringing, along with most of my peers, consisted of things like "you dont need a man", "anything a man can do, a woman can do better", "manly men are toxic", "stay at home moms are such a waste of potential", "look at that stay at home mom wasting her life away", "its sad she chose to stay home. she used to be so smart". so when we made the decision for me to come home and raise our children, I was met with very little support from extended family/friends/and even myself. I was conditioned to believe that now my life was a total waste. Until I started to see the glass half full. that ended up making my detest turn to acceptance which turned to appreciation which turned into love which turned into happiness which has now turned into advocacy. I do believe that if I had to, I COULD do everything on my own and I could be that BOSS LADY, BOSS MOM, BOSSY BOSS BOSS bad to the bone mama jamma. BUT I dont have to be. It is ok to want to raise your own children and its okay to actually like your husband too. Looking back on all the years I had someone else raising my children makes me sad. Not because they were treated badly but my children literally spent more time with someone other than their parents. I dont remember who said it but I recently heard a quote that said "if you want your children to like you, dont send them away. If you want your children to have your values, dont send them away to be taught someone else's agenda" and I cant stop thinking about how many times teachers and other people tried to convince me that my parents didnt know what was right for me. I want to change the quote to: Keep your children close and your enemies far far away. #behindthescenes #SAHM #stayathomemom #thisisajob #notless #raisingbabies #raisingmen #raisingladies #raisingkids #raisingthefuturegeneration #kids
