What was always crazy about this movie for me is that parts of it were filmed in the neighborhood I grew up in, in Watts. There was also a scene filmed in a house that was directly across the street from the one I lived in. There's even a part where they drive through the projects, and my dad was in the background (out of focus) buying ice cream for me and my brother. I was too young to know or remember anything about it, but whenever we watched this movie, my dad would tell us about when they were filming it.

Crazy thing is that this movie was based on a real guy. His name's Rafael Pérez. He's still alive. He got caught and convicted instead of getting lit up at the end.
