I have been to all of those but Philipsburg as I never got to it before it closed. As a jersey boy born and raised traveling across the state to visit shopping malls is one of my favorite hobbies, it’s truly amazing to be from the mall capital of the world. Very proud to be from New Jersey, let’s go Devils!!!
Center court at Woodbridge had giant fountains along with cascading è. 2 story. Waterfalls along the route. Mall was built in two stages with penny wing opened in 1978. Covid shut mall and alot of people stay away. Sears used to be A and S
I filmed the malls in this video in late February and soon after had all the symptoms of Covid, but no one was talking about it yet. Early March when they started naming the symptoms, I'd gotten over it but realized "that's all what I just went through!" I swear I'd picked the virus up at one of those malls, as it was one of the first "hot spots" in the NJ area.
As a kid, I remember the old Menlo Park Mall, Woolworths and the food counter, Arcadian Gardens, a garden type store that was closer to Route 1 side, and a bagel place that was on the side of the woods not too far from Kamp Kiddie Keepwell. Woodbridge Center Mall would be the place to go around the Christmas Season because of Fortunoffs. The did a nice job of decorating the “Seasonal section.”
As a former New Jerseyan, my friends and I would go to Woodbridge Mall on the weekends and just hang out. More so in the winter. And my friends and I would do mall exploring throughout NJ (Paramus Park Mall, Quakerbridge Mall, Monmouth Mall, Willowbrook Mall, until we finally realized they all are the same). Now to show you how old I am, my mother would take me to the Menlo Park mall to shop at Bamberger's (do you know what they are?). Enjoyed the video.
I remember going to the Bamberger's at Quakerbridge Mall as a kid, and the "Best" department store adjacent to the mall. I'm a middle of Gen-X kid, so I remember a lot of the 70s and 80s stuff. We didn't go to Woodbridge or Menlo Park much, but we had family in the area, so maybe just once a year. When we had yearly family picnics at Roosevelt Park, some of us would ride over to Menlo Park when it was only one level for some A.C. and food that wasn't burnt marshmallows...and because some of us kids wanted something at KayBee.
Menlo mall opened in 1959 as open air mall closed in in 1966 mom closed. In 1988 and whole mall razed save for bamberger's. Total rebuild and opened in Aug 1991
Ive been going to woodbridge ever since i was in a baby stroller, (over 40 years) and i still go there, its one of my remaining childhood hangouts, as for the modified Menlo park mall i never ever liked it, i always perfer the ORIGINAL bigger one floor menlo mall, and even the bridgewater mall
I love this compilation video! I haven't been to any of those recently, except for P'Burg Mall. I have clearer memories of Woodbridge Mall than Menlo Park Mall, even though you're right that we went to Menlo Park Mall more often. I remember Menlo Park being smaller and darker, so I think you're right that that section near Rain Forest Cafe is more of that original style. I love what they've done with the addition! Both malls are looking great, and I'm glad they're both able to thrive given how close they are to each other. Except of course for "SE RS", lol! I think those roof trusses on the parking deck for Bridgewater Commons are new? I haven't been there in at least a decade. My last trip there was to get a Ferrari LEGO set from the LEGO store. As for P'Burg Mall . . . it's always great to see our Freaky Friends. I'm gonna miss them very much! Nice effect editing them this round, lol! ⭐🌜

Do you remember the Alexander's at the old Menlo Park Mall ?

Wasn't there an Abraham and Straus at Woodbridge Center too?
I'm not entirely sure. I never lived too close to the mall and didn't go there very often. If anyone knows, leave a comment.
yes A&S was in woodbridge from 1971 to 1995 when they were bought by macys
The Sears store was formerly an A&S, which explains the unique architecture outside. As for the Macy’s, it used to be a Stern’s.
My dad owns a restaurant in Menlo mall Ruby Thai
I love mall fountain
