    Go for what you want, Maggie, and we'll enjoy going along with you as you play and experiment. As for art goals. for 2023, I haven't really thought about it, but I think the big one remains - to get outside and get paint on paper. It's the only way I'm going to regain my confidence, because I'm not really motivated by indoor work, unless I'm prepping or teaching a lesson (which I love, btw... ). And I love being out of doors, drawing and painting what is there to be drawn and painted (that's sort-of everything!). So, thanks for making me put that thought 'out there'! 😊

    It's very cool that you check up on your past goals. A tip for the gouache that dried up on the tubes, you could have opened them and mixed the dry gouache with water in a cup to reactivate if you didn't want to just throw them away. I am also almost done with my small Liquitex acrylic tubes. I have around 30 tubes and have only like 12 left.

    • @CreatingCuteArt
      @CreatingCuteArt  Год назад +1

      That’s awesome, way to go on moving through those tubes!! I didn’t think water would wake up acryl gouache the way it does traditional gouache, does it work with the acrylic? Thank you for the tips!!

    • @WeblightDreams
      @WeblightDreams Год назад +1

      @@CreatingCuteArt Not sure but it is worth a try. For regular acrylics when I find them getting hard and separating from the binder I just squeeze the paint in the tube and move the binder around and that helped reactive a tube that I was going to toss because it was way too dry. For another tube I emptied it out on a different container with a lid and used water to reactivate it. It worked but it was a lot of mixing, like a lot lol

    One of the biggest things I have learned from RUclipsrs is to give myself the freedom to play in my sketchbooks and make ugly art. Sandy Hester has a saying I like to write in my sketchbooks as a reminder "all the bad goes into the good". I learn so much more from watching my RUclips community try new things and struggle through the process!! Thanks for sharing your 2023 goals!!

    Isn’t it satisfying to see used up/empties art supplies?! Best feeling ever in my opinion. Your are doing an amazing progress with those watercolor! I was wondering, do you have another palette that you want to work on after you are done with the Regina’s or are you going to get refills? I love your gouache (traditional and acrylic) paintings! Super hyped to see what you will create with those paints. Kind of funny how this video came out today because last night I was working on my art goals list ❤ For me is use up my glitter gel pens, washi tapes, acrylic paints and some of the sketchbooks that I’ve been neglecting since I don’t know when. 😂

    • @CreatingCuteArt
      @CreatingCuteArt  Год назад +1

      That's a great list!! After I finish this one, I think instead of using a single palette up, I'd want to have a goal of rotating through all of my paints (using a different palette for each painting) so that all of my palettes get good use!! I love acrylic paint pens and washi tape. Good luck with your progress this coming year!! 🤗🤗🤗

  • @Julie-vy3oz

    Although not formalized, I’ve been letting myself create a lot of bad art practicing being a bit looser and freer. I’d like to continue this practice because every now and again I paint something I don’t hate! Progress. Like many artists, I also want to be more conscious of using the fun variety of art products I own and practice using them together!

    • @CreatingCuteArt
      @CreatingCuteArt  Год назад +2

      That is awesome!! I'm glad that goal resonated with you and that you're taking a similar journey already. It is so oddly scary, even though no one else *has* to see the results, but somehow it's still so nerve wracking to create things that aren't up to snuff! So worth it to push through, I have to remind myself!!

    Hey Maggie! Thank you for sharing your goals with us! I set personal goals each year, but never thought of setting art goals. I wish you would link the microphone you are talking about. I probably need to figure out how to improve my sound, etc. But, never find the time...I'm too busy trying all of the art things. Haha, luckily we have such a sweet understanding community I don't seem to get comments about that. I think your videos are perfect, just as they are!!! They reflect your amazing personality, and your passion for art...which is why I try to never miss a video (unless I know I'm doing the same thing, then I wait until I've published my video to watch). I hope all of your RUclips goals and dreams come true for 2023!!!
    Too funny, I never hit pan because I refill my pans once much paint is gone. I'm too worried it will ruin my brushes digging in the holes. I guess I'm weird like that!?! I can't wait to see more of your artwork and what else you make with the acrylic markers. Thanks for the shout out, you are so sweet! Oh, also on the acrylic gouache. I wonder if you could add some of the Turner Acrylic Extender to tubes that seem to be drying up? I haven't tried it, but it might be better than tossing them? Big hugs my friend, and Merry Christmas!!! 💗

    • @CreatingCuteArt
      @CreatingCuteArt  Год назад +1

      I linked the mic in the description, so check it out (although I find your sound and video quality great already)! I totally see being scared to hit pan in a typical half-pan, I do indeed think it could be bad for a brush to jam it to the bottom (I like to swirl it in the paint on its side when things get low)! I think these low rim square pans are why I'm not worrying about it in the Regina's palette. I love this thing!! I did try using the Golden retarder in the dried up tubes but they were just such a terrible consistency even when they sort of woke up, I was getting so frustrated and said to myself, why am I using a supply that actively annoys me and makes me not want to paint? That's when I gave myself permission to toss them. I am super excited to use my Holbein and Liquitex, and even my little Blick bottles, so I'm letting myself focus on the supplies I love!! I see why people love Turner with these three tubes, because they're creamy and dreamy, but so many went dry on me I just got totally fed up! I hope you meet all your 2023 goals, too, and thank you for all of your delightful, inspiring, and fun videos. Your introduction to the Arrtx Brush acrylic markers was a top tip of my entire year, I'm loving those things!!!

    The painting in 8:00 is so gorgeous 😍😍😍😍 I'm usually not a fan of portraits but I really like your portrait style. If you feel discouraged to try your style because you are not 100% happy with the result try different approaches, like try starting drawing from the fundamental lines, or start free drawing with eyes, nose or even the lips. Sometimes it takes a different approach to realize what you like and don't like in your paintings.

    I bought few tubes of Turner Gouache this year not the acryl. I was afraid it will dry on me because I don't use it often enough. I have watercolors that I used for years they not even close to be used up. Like my oldest VanGogh set of 18. It was my primary pallete for 2 years I used up only 5 colors.

      That's amazing! I agree that watercolor is amazing in how it will just last years and years. I think with one solid watercolor palette, one fountain pen and a good mechanical pencil, most artists would just be buying paper, ink, and lead once a year and they'd be set almost for life!
