Your videos help me keep my motivation for building my third gen ❤
Such a great channel. Thank you, from thirdgen owners everywhere.
Thanks for the tutorial.. damn I own a 94 Pontiac Trans am that I'm building.. I never knew they made them relocation brackets. Thanks for the great video 👍🤙
Love your channel. Makes me want another third gen. My 97 is sweet, but something about the third gens feels so right.
Just a word of warning,
The aluminum pan-hard bar was fine on street tires, but when I stepped up to wide sticky race orientated tires; it started to bend under load
so only use that aluminum pan-hard bar if you have stock sized tires.
otherwise use a Steel pan-hard bar for larger tires.
Whose roll center/relocation kit are you using, Founders? I have a 4th Gen and I'll be installing this same kit, thanks for your video as the Founders kit has NO instructions.
Looks like a very strong upgrade
It helps with rear end bite quite a lot. But i did need to DOUBLE my rear spring rates to make it work. and i'm still testing heights to find the most ideal roll center.
This actually seems like a must have and affordable thanks man 👍
if you race your 3rd gen yes. it's NOT for a street driven car.
@@3rdGenGuy i street drive my car and have done this mod too awhile back. Welded in and everything. That heim joint reinforcement thing you installed is cool, however I welded on from the axle to the reloc bracket on the axle. The kit I got was from unbalances engineering.
@@3rdGenGuy why not for a daily?
@@marcbrazzers relocating the panhard bar on both sides does nothing but make a street car ride like crap due to the need for stiffer springs.
you can't use the fixed load transfer in the rear on the street.
there's no benefits for a street car.
NOT to be confused with relocating just the passenger side for exhaust clearance.
@@3rdGenGuy i bef to differ. Because the rear on these cars is so light compared to the front they have a huge tendancy to oversteer but with this, it oversteers wayyyy less. It’s been over a decade since I installed this so i’m a bit rusty about the actual physics on this, but check out the TGO forum. Ive got around 3000 posts on there since 2007 and there were threads about this where a bunch of people go into great detail about the benefits of this. Yes you can run stiffer springs and a bigger rear sway bar to compensate for all that extra roll, but what this relocation does is essentially LOWER the rear roll center in relation to the center of gravity which is a good thing for these cars due to them being super front heavy and light weight over the rear. I relocated the battery over the rear to also help with this weight distribution. I will also likely lower the car a bit and raise the body side an extra inch since the body side should be ever so slightly higher than the axle side..
Great info. Installation and testing.
Awesome videos! I have a 1990 Camaro iroc z28 with the 350 and auto transmission. My plan is to slowly upgrade the car as well as try autocross. I'm a beginner and your videos help a lot, thanks!👍
emmanuel martinez ikr
stiffer rear spring/sway bars usually induce oversteer.
there's a million variables when it comes to car setup.
my car actually understeers at the limit
@@3rdGenGuy Yea, thats fair. Square tire setup? Tuning for anything other than the limit seems weird for a track car. How did changing your roll center work out?
Great video once again...Do I need an adjustable or non adjustable Panhard for my 84z28...Also, do I need to Re-locate my bar settings too ? Thanks again...Big Fan of Yours 🙌
relocation is for handling purposes (road race/Autocross), not for street cars.
an adjustable bar is recommended to center the axle if you do any lowering.
I think Speed Engineering makes a better one, it allows dual exhaust and requires NO DRILLING or fabrication at all… I have some BMR stuff and Speed Engineering stuff and it works great together. No wheel hop and plenty of bite. My 3rd gen make 400whp 400ft Lbs of torque
this is for turning not exhaust clearance .
So what is it and do you tighten the axle clamp in because when you put your car back on the ground that axle is going to pivot and that clams gonna be out of whack
What are the benefits/cons of using this compared to an aftermarket adjustable panhard bar that uses factory location? Like a UMI or BMR unit.
more rear grip in turns.
drawback is you need WAY stiffer sprint 200lb+
it's really a race only item, NOT a street car thing.
Will the upper panhard bar alone work with the factory's mount???
Wait.."drill out the bushings to 14mm"?
they sell the kit and the included bushings arent the right size for thier own hardware? 🤔 i have the same setup in the mail rn from Founders
the stock 3rd gen pan-hard bolts are tapered.
the threads are smaller than the shank of the bolts.
this kit uses a BIG 14mm bolt so that's why the bushings get drilled out to 14mm or 9/16in
I have a question when I installed my single adjustable pan hard bar which side do you recommend the adjustment side? Drivers side or passenger side??
the side easiest to get to when the car is at ride height.
@@3rdGenGuy thanks for the info... So I'll install my BMR adjustable panhard bar on passenger side since easiest to get to... 👍🤙...
I have all BMR suspension on my 94 trans am. My pan hard bar is adjustable on the driver's side only...
adjusting 1 side will lower the roll center.
however, you want to keep the pan hard bar as level as you can when you do this. hence adjusting both sides. not the end of the world if you only have 1 side.
At 1:08, that bar, what is it called. I can find replacements for the trackbar and control arms but no that specific one, prob doesn't help that I don't know what's it called. 😅
it's a "pan-hard support bar" you can buy tubular ones for cheap.
they also allow larger exhaust to be used as well.
i use the founder's one, but many other companies have ones for sale.

@@3rdGenGuy brother, thanks for always being super helpful
I bought the UMI Relocation kit didn’t come with anything that looks like that Hyme joint?
what UMI kit did you get? it should 100% have a rod end piece included. their kit is $300 and required their sway bar brackets.
3rd Gen Guy I bought item 2024. I never saw the complete package for 300 bucks cause ima dumbass so I might just have to get item 2064 as well to go with my item 2024 I think?
What’s the point of a panhard bar?
Limits side to side movement of an axle that uses Coil springs.
3rd Gen Guy thank you! I had to change the thing that goes from my tran to my diff. Then my tran Mount went bad again. I’m afraid of doing burnouts again. Also changed one motor mount. 6 hrs.
@@thebehemoth1998 trans and torque arm mounts go bad fast. fairly easy to change thankfully.
