I had a field grade Springer. I literally had her housebroken in one day. She did indeed love water. She was loyal and devoted and VERY intelligent. She was the best dog I've ever had.
One final point. Once upon a time, Cockers and Springers were the same breed but breeders started to separate the ones that were more Springer-like from the dogs that were more Cocker-like and they became two different dogs. But with that fact in mind, the two breeds are well-suited for being bred together. Both are beautiful dogs and you're sure to have good results.
We have one as a family and he is the cutest thing ever but you are right, he’s very energetic but can be calmed down fairly easily ❤

Best thing we ever did getting a Sprocker. Gets us out of the house and walking more and makes us laugh all the time. Only known him for 5 months, but we love our Benji ....

When I was 9 my Aunt got a black and white English cocker spaniel with the silkiest fur, she was an absolute ball of energy that wanted constant love and attention. I have been completely and utterly obsessed with cocker spaniels ever since... 🥰
I had a cocker spaniel, she has all the positive trsits described above, i dont remember any bad characteristic.. I miss her.. 😢
Cocker spaniels and Springer spaniels used to come from the same litters. The smaller pups were house dogs (cockers) and the larger pups were used for hunting (springers) It wasn't until 1892 that the kennel club recognized them as separate breeds (partly based on coloration differences). Cockers don't have the characteristic forehead blaze and freckles that Springers have. There are some roan and tri-tone Springers, but the usual Springer coloration is liver and white or black and white.

They are are crazy hard working gun dogs, their endurance and recovery time is unbelievable.
Hyper and prone to hurting themselves.

Destructive defo comes from the springers left my oldest dog in the house for a few hours by the time we came back he’d chewed through our utility room door

A sprocker isn’t a cross breed as such
It’s known as a variant as Working English Springers and Cockers are so closely related. The only thing separating them at one time was there size at one point. In the uk in the UK springer Spaniel was bred in to Cockers to save some of the breeding lines of the cocker spaniel.
When i was younger i had a sprocker, he bit me and now hes put down. Rest in peace pip :(

We have two of them, one whos getting on in years and a puppy... the best and worst additions to the family, all in one. Very hyper, very destructive (we have been through about 6 kitchen floors so far with them, and a likely 7th and 8th will occur with the puppy) but also the most loyal and affectionate animals imaginable and with impeccable bite inhibition, only one of our three dogs (we had a springer who lived to 15 before we got the 2nd sprocker) has ever bitten (even then by accident and human error) a person, and it was neither of the Sprockers. Personally id say a Sprocker, from our examples is by far one of the best dogs you can get as a family who are moderately active and live rural-semi rural. Our boys, in particular the puppy, are trained from when we first bring them home to be completely ok with human interaction including a trusted individual putting their hands in their mouths to retrieve items. Obviously all dogs are different, but if you want a dog that you can trust around a child, Id say you cannot go wrong with a Sprocker. Amazing animals and I must say, whilst my first love amongst dog breeds will always be Springers, Sprockers are a close second.
On the positive side they forgot one very impotent trait.... the the cutest ever! 😊

I’ve been researching left and right trying to figure out what specific type is my spaniel and I’ve come to the conclusion I’m 70% certain he is a sprocker spaniel, I did the full blood test on him by picking him up from his mane fur coat and he slightly cries so that tells me he isn’t 100% cocker spaniel and he is only 3 mo.. I leave the room or leave him in his kennel for 5 min and yes howling & crying his lungs out.. so yup it’s certain possibility.. he is also that rare splotchy, black & white slightly ginger color mix and has a stubby snout not a long one like most cockers…
My parents go out all the time and I’m glad we don’t have that pet yet!

Wow, mixing 2 different types of spaniels creates scared destructive puppies when left alone? No way. Any puppy left alone will suffer separation anxiety and chew on anything they see. Thats actually all breeds of puppies. Duh.
Just get an established breed like a Boykin or Field Spaniel..basically the same thing without having to crossbreed & invent a new breed with new health/temperament problems
