This is literally prog, and the fact that this band can piss off a few old men, gives me hope that music has a place in this world. If this band sucks then every band below them sucks, and that includes green day. Music is music. Old men are old men.
Nothing generational about their appeal. Old men with garbage tastes and younger bipeds of every gender with garbage tastes are missing out if they don't get it. This fine band gives me comfort in my dotage.
This is awesome. Reminds me of Captain Beefheart but way more concise and pleasant sounding.

but why call this outsider art dave? theyre not like, ducking camera shots. and the compositions theyre playing seem to use defined parts, notes, interplay - all complex and tight pieces but using common language. this more and and more common usage of 'outsider art' tag, is often just disrespectful way of tagging what you cannot properly read trough and analyze as t'oo detailed'. other sad thing is implication that the bands 'outsider art', therefore they must totally dont give a shit about career and gaining audience - very damaging and untrue assumption for a band like that

Too late! 30:17 Of course they don't sound the same - they're both too unique. But there is a similar degree of passion, creativity, and complexity. I would argue that Palberta does have some "exploding note theory" going on.

The thing is, there is plenty of music that I don't care for, but I don't feel a need to write comments about it. There is something special about Palberta that triggers closed-minded people's definition of "good" music. It's strange how people are so defensive and threatened by this playful, quirky music.

@@pixlepotumus Out of tune, out of key, out of tempo, out of rythm, obvious lack of skills in any kind of instrument. It's obvious if you're not perfectly deaf, and I'm sincerely terrified that it might sound good to anybody with a functioning brain. FFS, I listen to avant-garde, concrete music and harsh noise, which isn't considered music to like 99.9% of the population, and still find this is garbage.
Let's reverse the problem : what's good in this ? I'm genuinly curious because right now I can't figure it out and it's pissing me off. And don't tell me it's innovative : it's not. People have been trying to (and successfully) make anti-music for decades, almost centuries.

@@Borahkreth Okay, I think you are conflating you not liking it with the musicians being untalented. 1. its not out of tempo or rhythm, they are certainty not standard rhythms but they are internally consistent within they're compositions. 2. they are not untalented with they're instruments, if they were they wouldn't stray out of the standard three -four chord structure that every nothing rock band uses. I'm also guessing you never listened to any of the parts were they were harmonizing they're vocals. The one thing I'll give you is that they seem unorganized but I'm chalking that up to being young and huge dorks as opposed to lack of talent. Also I question weather you actually do listen to any experimental music or if you do you clearly have not listened to any of it critically, because ultimately nothing they are doing is really new.
I am going to return to this and have a second listen. They are not a band to dismiss on first listening.

It's almost as if people who listen to music don't realise what things like "art" and "expression" are. Music is not just a commodity to be consumed and left to the side. It's something to be appreciated and discussed. Music *is* art and when we shit on something that breaks conventional norm then we deprive ourselves of evolution. Art is not always pretty, it may be something "a child could draw", but it is still art. Can't we just appreciate it for that sake?
Insult to music is art and expression? Yes? Profanation is art? Okay. Every shit today is a art, modern art and we all need to eat it. Modern humanity. I make the same kind of "music" when someone gives me an instrument i've never played and I'm extremely drunk. But it doesn't get posted on the internet, because even borderline blacked out, I can realise it's shit.
I don't get it. I'm fifteen minutes in, and I still don't get it. Like seriously, i'm fascinated by how bad it is, but I can't understand how anyone could listen to this intentionally. I listen to pretty much every music style, from hip-hop to harsh noise, from death metal to jazz, to classical music to blues, to avant-garde/concrete music to pop. I like to listen to new and innovative things that push boundaries.
But seriously, THIS, this is garbage. If you like this, go to your local rehearsal room and listens to 14 years old kids, you'll hear pretty much the same. And I know what I'm talking about because i've been these kids. Practice and get good, the path is long but the reward is worth it. Don't use lazy excuses to play garbage.

Just because you have to think more about what they're doing and playing doesn't mean it's bad/unskilled, and even if the musicians in the band we're unskilled, the songwriting is still very original. Wanna have fun and attention without the effort of learning instruments... add a bit of paint, showing some skin - and there you go - getting gigs and a slot at Audiotree. It's a sad world.
For me, the distaste is in the gimmick. Doesn’t have to be good or bad. I enjoy plenty of punk and indie bands that are off key and tempo live. For those saying this sounds original...it doesn’t. This is how every beginner sounds(with exception of the drummer at times) and a gimmick is a gimmick. There’s nothing original about it.
