As a teen I literally went full punk kinda emo phase, hard, just because I was extremely afraid of showing affection and being shamed or ridiculized 😅 Just now with 26 years old I understand I did it to protect my heart from being hurt but how come maaaaany people do this 😂😂😂 do we all share the same group of brain cells? haha hard rock on the outside and a marshmallow on the inside ❤

Same, I always felt so self conscious going into an Abercrombie and Fitch, if you didn’t have a perfect body or look gorgeous they were really judgmental, it’s like you had to be hot to wear their clothes, and the funny thing is the goths and emos at Hot Topic we’re so chill and nice compared to the stuck up snobs that worked at Abercrombie

Bro I had a hot topic employee hype me up about my body type and gave me the confidence to try on a skirt and now I have 3 of them and I love them all. She was my gateway to confidence for my style
Edit: because some of y'all need to hear this
    1. My body type is curvier with a slim waist, so the skirts would slide up and a appear too short. I am not, nor do I support being obese
    2. Yes I understand she was a saleswoman, but she actually did a good job. She helped me gain confidence, even if it was for the sales, I appreciate her and her work. She deserved my money because she was so sweet and gentle about it.
    3. I don't always need affirmation to do something, I simply had so many fails in a row that I was discouraged, I expected the skirts not to fit, as they seemed to me the same length and the hem didn't look any different.
Now if y'all are so insecure and unhappy with yourself that you have to accuse me of being a woke transgender obese insecure pushover, that's sad. I'm not trans, I'm not obese, and I'm happy with how I look. I understand that clothes were made to fit people not people meant to fit clothes. Thank you.

I remember I went to the mall with my friends and we went into hot topic and we wanted something but we couldn’t afford it so we all were whining about it (jokingly) and then a worker walked up to us and said, “Hey, sorry to eavesdrop, but I heard you say you didn’t have enough money. If you’re fine with it, we can give you some money.” 😭💕

I had a friend that back in the 2000’s wore khaki shorts and polos all the time…even wore them tucked them into his shorts with a belt. He was a pure metal head through and through and would mosh like a beast at metal shows. It’s not about how you dress, it’s about the music, the fans, and the artist’s that create it.

but what happened to their slogan "all about the music"? that's what the store was about, and it was a go-to for many. have you seen the commercials from the 90s? watch them and anyone would agree.
there are many other stores that cater to anime and videogames, why change one of the only big stores for people that liked the cool stuff? it's disappointing.
and i'm not the first person who has said this. it's a pretty common opinion. they are somewhat trying to bring it back, but people want the full hot topic glory.

@x this, as a current employee I can confirm, we to are trying to turn it back lol. Most of us hate the sheer amount of shit we get. Like, how merch and some game merch is fine, but at its heart its music merch and subculter shit. If the company would listen to anyone it would be lit.
