  • Sir Keir Starmer has warned bosses the days of “low pay and cheap labour” must end as he tells them to train up UK workers to end Britain’s “immigration dependency”.
The Labour leader signalled in a speech that he would be willing to accept increased skilled immigration on the path to his vision of ending the “low pay model”.
Addressing the Confederation of British Industry conference, he set out plans to “start investing more in training up workers who are already here”.
Sir Keir vowed to be “pragmatic” about the shortage of workers and not to ignore the need for skilled individuals to come into the country if he forms a Labour government.
TalkTV's Julia Hartley-Brewer questioned shadow Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds over whether the Labour government could be trusted to solve the migrant crisis.

They never talk about the impact immigration has on social cohesion, my hometown has been turned into an immigrant ghetto, I rarely hear English being spoken on the streets, and at least half the people I see on a daily basis aren't English, we have 5 million unemployed we don't need more immigrants, this is about cheap labour and more profits for business, whilst the English slowly lose their ancestral homeland.

He has a very good point, we have in Bradford a lost generation who are fighting for housing and health care.
The government always relocate immigrants to this poor and run down city.
What we get is spin messages and emotional blackmail about being better suited for thier needs.
Just visit the schools and that tells you everything.
The Council is a joke and are buying property at bloated prices in a recession, yet the education and child services are on their knees, crime has seen it labelled the worse City in Europe.

Spot on. NHS is broken anyway. Too many people, UK citizens included, have zero incentive to work. Benefits shouldn't be to support laziness, but for those who REALLY need it, like the War Veterans, orphans, disabled, homeless.

    • @mhtbfecsq1
      @mhtbfecsq1 Год назад

@@mtgigi NHS has been broken intentionally by the Tories and all those pushing for privatization who are creating a 2 tier society where the richest can get all their needs met while the most disadvantaged can't. Whoever supports that is inhumane and evil. It's not about laziness, there are many reasons why people can't reach a place of paying for private heath care and only someone living in a privileged bubble would say what youve said. And if you followed the news then you'd know that the Tories have tried to take away benefits for the disabled and make people homeless just so that they can save more money to put in to the pockets of the rich who are taking money out of the economy and cutting workers salaries to the lowest since 1970's and second lowest since the 2nd world war while also changing terms and conditions to decrease living standards and erode/ erase workers basic rights. The dystopia we see growing around us now is 100% caused by those with the power, not by people at the bottom. It's a deliberately unfair society designed to keep the disadvantaged disadvantaged and the powerful untouchable and living with unlimited prosperity which most of the time they are not deserving of through merit, to say the least.

Thank you Lorenzo. The biggest problem the UK faces as an advanced economy is that wages have stagnated over 15 years. The consequences are that the taxpayers has to foot the bill for this state of affairs. According to the ONS the UK Government must find and spend £16.5k per person per year to cove all costs . This is for social welfare, housing , health , education, infrastructure etc. A minimum wage worker would contribute £ 48 a week to this set against £ 317 expenditures per person per year present in the UK. It is patently evident, judging by the feelings expressed via social media and news channels akin to this one, that the indigenous people are fed with having to go the the back of the queue in order to allow immigrants priority for services and accommodation that the resident population have/are paid/paying for in their rates and taxes. Bringing in even more immigrants, even those with measurable skills, would simply be rubbing their noses in what has already become an intolerable state of affairs.

With regards to the work force in the UK: as an indenous British person, I seldom have the opportunity to be treated by an indigenous British person when I need health care. If I need health care, in a situation where I feel vulnerable, I would like to have the choice of having somebody familiar with my own culture to treat me. There's nothing wrong with that! If you want me to be treated by a non-British person, then you need to make sure that the worker speaks clear English, has embraced the British culture, and will treat me according to the British way of treating people!

Employers have had 5 years to sort these problems, and all they can come up with to deal with the issue is more immigration.

Why do the trade unions who fund labour only take public sector and former nationalised sectors on strike, yet the average private sector worker like in supermarkets have never had a real terms pay increase in 10 years, USDAW are a classic example of a union who just accepts what the businesses throw at them, and b3cause of it their members earn pittance.
The gap between public sector workers and private sector workers pay is massive.
Political discrimination by a Labour movement that is driven by the Islington set who patronise working-class folk by giving to the Liberal middle class public sector workers, kier starmer is no Kier Hardie.
Are not those who kept us fed not entitled to a pay rise ?
No strike at Tesco will ever take place, after reading the story of a patronising statement by that company will give workers an advance on their pay, what a bunch of scrooge s are tesco and its board , and USDAW are silent
