    Thanks for selecting my suggestion! Great analysis. As I receive monthly or quarterly dividends from my value ETFs I 've been wondering if I should keep MOAT, with it's annual dividend and lackluster performance this year. This reminded me why I added it in the first place.
    I'll take the T-shirt please! Thanks!

    Almost all etfs r just flavored sp500... u can not find a quality weighted etf... ishares and jp morgan take quality stocks but align them with sp500 sector weight AND give exceptions for banks which in reality hold a ton of debt... invesco tends to have the best funds, their quality fund SPHQ is quality but instead of sector weights they put a market cap filter, so its actually the sp500 plus quality

    Great ETF Battle Ron! Mike and Cinthia did a fantastic job breaking down the ETF's. I'm going to agree with Mike's wildcard pick. I have the S@P as my core position in all my traditional accounts. VOO, SCHX, SCHK, and SFY. Really enjoyed watching 👍

    I bought MOAT 11 years ago and I still own the shares. MOAT is 4% of my entire stash. I don't remember why I bought it, except I've always like moats. Expense ratio is kind of high, compared to everything else I own. I'll have to dig into my diary and find out what was in my head then. Don't know but maybe I'll come up empty.

      Dave: I think you're one of the earliest MOAT investors we've bumped into. Congrats and glad to see you've done well. Best, Ron

    I have a question, is it better to do sector etfs or blended etfs? Which has better long term returns? 😢

      The portfolio construction framework I teach and endorse...has 3 containers: Core, non-core and margin of safety. Sector funds/ETFs, if you own them belong in the non-core container. The core is strictly for broadly diversified funds/ETFs that are proxies of their underlying asset class (stocks, bonds, real estate, commodities). My investment viewpoint IS NOT core investments vs. non-core, but rather owning both in a complimentary manner. So long as overlap is limited, it can be financial beneficial from my perspective. Best, Ron

    Protect your financial castle 🏰 with MOAT! I've had my eye on MOAT for a while.

    May I perhaps add another argument in favor of MOAT? Some people would oversimplify and say, because that’s one of the main ways Mr. Buffett selects the companies he wants to invest his money in. He likes fortified castles that can withstand any competitors’ attacks. Like Cynthia explains, this is a way to reduce your risk in the face of an uncertain future, plus, these companies can command higher margins, so quality factors are already “built in” those castles.

    Great battle, I am more cautious about Qual than jqua or moat. It dropped over 20 percent in 2022 where moat and jqua were down about 13.5 percent. From a risk perspective, I am leaning towards moat and jqua at this point, but not sure how this will play out in the next down market.

    Please Please Please! I would like to se ETF compare between US ETFs and EU ETFs! Because of UCITS regulation,(we) Europeans can't benefit US ETFs - it wil be very helpful ig you make video ETF battles related to this topic ! Thank you !!

    • @etfguide
      @etfguide  10 месяцев назад +2

      Comparing European ETFs vs. US ETFs is (currently) way outside of the ETF Battles scope. It's a messy discussion that we can probably have some day at the Four Seasons George V in Paris. (You're buying.) But thanks for the suggestion. Best, Ron

    Great episode, thanks.
    For a future one, how about a battle between ETFs that hold MLPs, such as AMLP & MLPA? There are also some more exotic offerings out there, but even the basics can present some complexity to investors. JPMorgan's ETN 'AMJ' is reaching its maturity in May of next year, so unless these popular products are typically reissued (?), that could be one to skip despite its AUM, unless there's a reasonable alternative.

      Great suggestion Luke. I don't think we've ever done an MLP matchup on ETF Battles. Stay tuned and thanks for watching! Ron

      @@etfguide One update, in case you may be thinking of an MLP battle: although the 'AMJ' ETN is maturing in a few months, JPMorgan issued a new note 'AMJB' that has a strategy similar to AMJ. Given some of the taxation differences between ETFs and ETNs, it would be great to consider AMJ/AMJB alongside some of the biggest ETFs.

    JQUA beats QUAL in almost everything. Diversification, total return, backtested total return of underlying indexes, standard deviation, expense ratio. QUAL has done the same as the s&p500 over the last 10 years and has only like .5% annualized outperformance since 1998 in its underlying index. Not worth it for .12% greater expense ratio than voo.

    I would recommend ETF Battle VOO (500) vs IWY (200) vs OEF (100) vs XLG (50)

    Hey Ron, to clarify, do the performance charts and comparisons (outperforming SPY since inception) take into account management fees?

    • @etfguide
      @etfguide  10 месяцев назад +1

      Published performance is after deducting ETF fees. However, the performance charts used on ETF Battles are just price performance and DO NOT include any dividends. If you add dividends to price performance you get the TOTAL RETURN, which is more representative of an investor's return. Lots of variables here! Best, Ron
