Well, you had a semi controlled burn on your pasture which will probably result in strong regrowth and recovery. As well now the entire herd has imprinted to come to you for safety and been rewarded for it. You can't get much stronger of a connection than that. Glad everyone is ok!
I’m so glad that it was just pasture and that the bison had the smarts to get away and where to go to wait. I know they needed that grass but with rain and time it will come back. At first I was concerned about the fire trucks and firemen out in the field with the bison but big joe knew what to do.
That had to be so scary at first. Big Joe is one smart cookie. He knew where safety was and trusted that you’d be there. I’m so grateful that all is well. Blessings to the helpers & to you & yours.
Dusty, I'm so glad the herd is safe and the fire only burned grass. I'm in Texas and we've had our share of wildfires the last few years. I know how devastating they can be. I love that Big Joe knows where his family is safe!
That was scary. What a great herd bull Joe is to bring his herd to the barn for safety. How awesome is that!? Thank God all is well. Great friends & family to inform you so quickly, also. Thanks for the update.
What a beautiful piece of property. I can’t imagine that feeling coming over the hill and seeing flames. I’m so glad all the structures were ok and the bison ran to a safe spot! Can’t forget the first responders. Without them, who knows.
@QDeb1 Firefighters are Heroes who run into a fire instead of running away from it! Look what a difference their dedication, skill, and willingness to put their life on the line has made in Dusty and Marissa's life. They could have lost everything, possibly even their own lives.
Oh, Dusty! I am soooo very sorry! I am grateful that you have so many friends and neighbors that care about you and your bison/property! The drought has been horrible for quite some time, and the wind makes things even worse! Your work with your Bison paid off--they knew where/how to go to be safe. Sending you prayers for safety and recovery--and I am grateful no one was injured or worse! Those of us who live in town in subdivisions with fire hydrants and full time firefighters do not fully appreciate our first responders and resources as we should!
Big Joe did a great job bringing his ladies up. Glad none were hurt. I love watching them run around. Thank God everything worked out. Hope ya'll have a wonderful day. Love you guys.
I was watching thru the window of the deputy's live stream. We/ most of us knew it was Dusty's place. There was alot of prayers lifted up during that fire for the safety of the Bison and your place. My heart also sank! I can only imagine the feelings You and Marisa went through but I am so happy and thankful everything worked out for the good.
@@stevensaxon8888 no I do not I live in N.C I was on a live stream with detective RWW. On the stream Dusty's name was mentioned then a shot of the entrance was shown and we all knew it was Dustys place
We thank you Jesus that no one was hurt there was no loss of property and the Bison were not hurt. Big Joe you are the man getting your ladies to a safe place. I pray that your fields will grow abundantly this spring with lots of green grass.
My heart stopped when I saw the headline for this clip! I never leave messages...but I just had to this time. Your videos make my day! Thank the lord you are all well and the bison are safe!
Just watched Daniel's video of his control burn in his field, with your help, and then seen this! Praise God for watching over the herd, your barn, and your neighbors. Giving God the Glory for Protecting y'all, the farm, and the herd...Love Hugs Happiness and Prayers...💗😇🙏🏻
Perhaps you have been given your answer with regards to what to do with the run-off rainwater from your barn. Collect and store it in a large tank for emergency use (drought/wildfire). You have aleady seen how quickly a wildfire can get away from you, so having a water supply to protect your assets is a smart move.
It's a great thing big Joe is smart and lead his girls up to the gate. I'm so glad it wasn't worse. That's when you say your prayers and thank God for looking over you. 🙏🏼
I am glad all you loss was a fence. This showed how smart Big Joe is he knew where to go I am so sorry that you and your wife had to deal with this fear. Your fire department did a great job You have great friends
I watched that live, it was scary... I was so worried. I've been through fire and it is devastating and moves so quickly. I'm so happy to hear all your herd were safe and barn survived.
It moves me to tears that those majestic, beautiful, free, and wild creatures knew to come to their safe place where they knew you would take care of them dusty!!
The one good thing is that it will green up the pasture. I’m so glad nothing happened with the Bison too! I live in Arizona and the Forest Service has done controlled burns that have gotten out of hand. So thankful nothing bad happened.
What a scare for you all. Just glad that everyone (bison and people) were kept safe and the fire department had been able to get it out quickly. Getting the rain on it afterwards was exactly what was needed. Take care From Perth, Western Australia 🇦🇺
Dusty thank you for sharing this and the way your local fire crew knew exactly how to fight the fire. It is great to have friends and family come together when help is needed. I know you will do the same when the time comes. I'm like all the other viewers to say we are glad everyone is safe.
Thank God your herds were all okay and you caught it just in time - what a frighteningly close call. Poor animals must have been way spooked but they had the instinct to go back to the barn. I’m so glad this story is a positive one instead of tragic. The burned area is massive eh? Peace and love to you all - and the beautiful Bison of course.
Oh my gosh, Dusty! I'm so glad everything turned out well! That's going to be a really lush pasture! Assuming you're right about the source of the fire, is there anything that you could have done differently to prevent it from flaring back up? Im glad the big fluffs are ok and didnt cause any additional issues Joe's a smart cookie. Make sure you and the human family get some rest too. It was also really cool to see the drone footage and how one could see how it seemed to initially be contained by the roads/frequently driven paths till that bigger one.
Thank the good Lord that your barn is safe the herds are safe and the rain has finally came. It is still strange that the fire kicked up after after a long time being dormant Just makes no sense
What a scare! So glad there was no serious damage. Yesterday’s local news was the escape of 11 bison, one of which was killed by a vehicle. Vehicle totaled, driver fine. 20” of snow on the ground and a ski tow & a Nordic trail system had to be closed. They eventually tired enough to be herded home with a snowmobile.
As scary it was, it's a blessing as well as your bison & property is all safe & no one was hurt. Im glad you have great neighbors & you guys exchanged phone numbers. Plus that was pretty smart of big Joe getting his ladies to up near the barn..
So thankful that the bison were not injured in any way and that your barn was not destroyed! You live in a GREAT community!!! I LOVE following you and all your adventures! 😷🥰❤️❤️❤️🦬😷

Loved the drone shots at the end of the video, all of the bison looked positively gleeful! So glad they & you & all those who were involved in putting out the fire, are safe & sound.🙏😇
Dusty, my wife Julie and I have been fans for almost a year now. We were shocked by the initial news of the fire. I've been around animals since high school. One thing I learned is darkness changes to game with large animals. The most calm animal can get very aggressive in darkness. It was awesome that the lead bull brought the herd to their safe place which was away from the fire fighters. Another blessing was the rain needed to bring the pasture back to life. Here in ND we burn fields ever fall after harvest. It is part of the natural cycle of prairie life. No animals lost, no structures lost. No folks hurt. That's a win win out of disaster.
Glad BigJoe brought the herd to the gate he’s so smart lol glad all of the bison are ok take care of yourself and those bison they are a high light in my life love from Arkansas
Wow! Lucky!!! But, it will be interesting to see how the pasture will look in another week or two. Thank God the fire department responded so quickly. Joe and the herd are real happy to be back out.
Oh, Dusty and Marissa! I am so sorry about your fire. I know the feeling when you get "that" call. I am so glad none of the bison were hurt and the community rallied around to fight the fire and help you get your ranch back in order. Such wonderful people. True to form, Dusty, you found the silver lining immediately. You assessed the problem, and rapidly found something good to come of this. I truly wish you and your family (that includes critters) all the best going forward. It was so nice to see your bison frolicking around in the pasture even though there is a big burned spot in the middle of it. They have the same attitude as you do!
When I saw the title, I thought you were going to say that you did a control burn like you did over at Daniel’s. Boy, this was way scarier! So happy that everything is ok and safe!
I am so glad things worked out so well. Next year you might find a richer grass growing! Also, I have seen fires pop up in areas away from the main fire because of grass root system was just so dry that it shrunk up enough to have a little space with oxygen in it. The oxygen helped the fire to spread underground. (I hope I explained it clearly)
I have seen these type fires flare up out of nowhere very scary, unsure how long it can take but I have seen them pop up a week or more after initial fires were out. Good possibility that's what happened. I won't burn a rooted tree because of this I want roots above ground just to be safe, even if I have to pull it just to be sure it's not burning underground.
I think that's really awesome that you're bison are very comfortable with you that they knew where to go in a crisis they knew where it was safe and that's awesome that you love them that much that they know that they could run to you
I was so sad watching this 😢 😞. So thank you so very much for the opportunity to watch them be silly and just plain out amazing animal. I could watch them for hours. 🧡🧡
So sorry that happened to you all. What a heart pounding event. Joe saved his peeps he’s such a good dude. I’m sure he was thinking that Dusty would be there near the barn and would help them stay safe. He knows quite well how great you care for all of them. So glad all turned out in the end.
Glad your barn and herd are okay! The pasture though scary it will come out so beautiful with new growth. Maybe get Daniel Arms to help you do a controlled burn next spring. You and him could get it done and no chance of this happening again like this one did.
Well...Daniel is pretty savvy about putting in fire breaks...paths that control the spread of fire. I think building in some of them would be the beginning of good range fire management.
You know that is really scary. My poor uncle’s barn caught on fire. It had all his hay and farming equipment. There was nothing he could do about it. He couldn’t even begin to touch it with the hose. By the time the fire trucks got there it had all burned down to the ground.
Sorry to hear about the fire. No loss of life or major property, which is a great thing. Praises for that. Need to till the burnt area and seed with new grass for the Bison. If you are in a "High Fire" alert you don't burn, even if it is okay. Big Joe is a fantastic Alpha to lead the herd to a safe place. Need to give him and them some cubes and lots of scratches just above his nose. Let him know he was a good boy. The rain will make sure there won't be a re-sparking of the pasture. Be well Dusty!!
Oh my! Dusty I pray that no major damage to land ! The new growth will be rich and green. Grateful to the Lord the animals are safe. Did you have a lightening strike??
Big Joe is so super smart to get his herd 🦬 out of there and to the barn to find U .. that's awesome .. not a plan Burn . And glad everyone is safe . But with the rain will turn into alot of good green 💚 for them to eat .. uno they say God works in mysterious ways .. 🙏 🕊️ it's a freak accident .. but for the good it seems .. just so grateful no one was hurt .. thanks to all the quick first responders.. as well . Stay safe .. have a most Blessed week and weekend coming Love from Tucson Arizona 💗🦎🌵🌻🦉👩🌾🌵🦎💗
Hi Dusty. That depression/hole obviously was sheltering a coal, and the wind picked it up. Thank the Lord the rain was right behind. Last month my neighbor lost his workshop- I woke up when the propane tanks exploded- but the volunteer fire department was there quickly, and kept all of the surrounding buildings from catching. I baked brownies and cookies for the fire department and my unfortunate neighbor. Just part of life; no people or stock harmed is the most important thing.
Dusty thinks that one of his previous burn piles may have begun smoldering. The winds picked up and a spark of flame was carried over to the dry pasture grass, which provided the fuel for a fast fire.
Wow,! Glad all the buffalo herd was safe and barn too. Was it from lightning strike? Caused? Glad all was taken care of with your ranch . And you were able to reach area quickly . Thank goodness for responder s to assist you as well . I Jesus Christ name Amen alleluia peace and joy be with you and family and the herd. They were looking so calm . I noticed .we're here for you . They were so attentive to your voice . I could tell they too were concerned. So that's awesome connection of communication with these beautiful buffalo . They are intuitive as🦬 well. God takes care of them. 😁🙏🇺🇲🥤🏜️🦅
Dusty, A grass fire gets the heart pumping big time...Hope you have a BIG JOE BBQ for the Fire Department, neighbors and friends when you can...those first responders are such a blessing for the community...Might want to consider a tanker truck for the ranch...hope your herd prospers and Spring brings the rain...Cheers from Maine.

I think building in some of them would be the beginning of good range fire management.
so glad big joe and everyone is ok
You know that is really scary. My poor uncle’s barn caught on fire. It had all his hay and farming equipment. There was nothing he could do about it. He couldn’t even begin to touch it with the hose. By the time the fire trucks got there it had all burned down to the ground.
It is so neat watching the bison run around. Thank you. They are very contented. So glad fire didn't reach the neighbors or barn.
Wow! God was looking out for you all! So glad all is well and the grass will take off great! 🙏💕🙏
thats what friends family are all about. thank you everyone
You have a nice Beautiful Herd of Bison may it continue to grow.
God Bless your Family, property, outfit & herd.
it's a freak accident .. but for the good it seems .. just so grateful no one was hurt .. thanks to all the quick first responders.. as well . Stay safe .. have a most Blessed week and weekend coming Love from Tucson Arizona 💗🦎🌵🌻🦉👩🌾🌵🦎💗
Thank God the bison are safe and your barn also! I can’t even imagine how frightened you were seeing that fire. Big Joe is a smart guy!
Glad that everything turned out alright. The good lord was looking out for your Bison that day.
Thanks to Zak and Daniel Arms for notifying you of the fire early on. So glad all is safe, animals a d your precious family!!!
What caused the fire? I'm so glad your barn or any of the bison were not hurt .
Dusty thinks that one of his previous burn piles may have begun smoldering. The winds picked up and a spark of flame was carried over to the dry pasture grass, which provided the fuel for a fast fire.
So glad everyone is ok and no barn damage ❤ Fire safety Joe was on it!
Very happy Dustin the Bison n the barn r saved n nothing happened to them what a true Blessing Amen .... 💌😇
Smiles, hello Cassy 😊💐
