  • How to repot a monstera
The roots of this baby were incredible! I'm amazed at how little soil was in the pot.
I think the video is pretty self explanatory, but if you have any monstera questions, let me know ☺️

How important is it to loosen the root ball? Can this be done without doing that? My plant was so root bound that it was almost impossible to loosen it, so I repotted without loosening and untangling the roots. Is that okay to do?

It should be ok. But every now and then roots wont be able to grow out of the rootball and the plant can die. It doesn't happen often, so i wouldn't worry 🙂

Hi, thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, plant diagnosis is not always quick and easy. There are situations where it’s possible to diagnose a problem quickly. But a lot of cases are more complex, and require photos and additional information.
For example, brown leaf patches can be caused by overwatering, underwatering, overfertilizing, fungal disease, compacted soil…To properly diagnose it, I would need quite a bit of information from you :) Info on the care the plant is receiving (light, watering, fertilizing…) as well as the environment it’s in. Due to the number of messages I receive every day and the complexity of questions like this I am unfortunately unable to help everyone.
Here is some information that should be helpful:
      1) 8 out of 10 times, the problem is lack of light. You can check out my Instagram highlighted stories on light: instagram.com/stories/highlights/17905018642303842/
The plant should have an unobstructed view of the sky, no trees, buildings or awnings blocking the view of the sky. Blinds should be open and lifted all the way up. Curtains pulled all the way to the side (unless there is too much direct sun).
For info on how much light your plant needs, there is a table at the end of this post: www.mrhouseplant.com/blog/what-is-bright-indirect-light-for-plants/
      2) the second most common issue is related to the potting mix retaining too much water, not being well-draining enough and not having enough oxygen for the roots. Check out these IG stories on how to make a good potting mix instagram.com/stories/highlights/17849507773982220/
      3) The next issues is improper watering - instagram.com/stories/highlights/18003567253173481/
      4) the last one are pests - instagram.com/stories/highlights/17906731198429617/ and instagram.com/stories/highlights/17883098062684062/
You can send me a photo of the plant and the window. They both have to be visible. I will do my best to help 😊
