A video showing how I make a pulley dropper rig. This rig has a pennel hook length but you can easily make a single hook or wishbone pattern that will clip onto the rig body making this a very versatile rig to target many species of fish on our coastline.

The idea of the pulley is when the fish takes the bait, it will lift the lead which will help it avoid snags, the only problem with that is you need to have a fish big enough to be able to lift the lead up and even then it's not 100%

Think the rays will be on the feed this weekend 😉

Can't say fairer than that, sometimes it's not about the fish you catch, it's the time spent relaxing and reflecting

this seems more complicated than a basic pulley pennel, what makes it better?

paulockleford this rig gives you a long flowing trace below the lead yet is still very streamlined for casting making it the perfect choice for bottom feeding fish like rays and smoothound

Thanks, I'm just starting out after not fishing for 23 years.. so far I have just made pulley pennel rigs and a basic single hook clipped flapper. I live near Chesil beach, do you think these basic rigs are enough for a beginner. lots of rigs seem so complicated.

paulockleford basic rigs will work just fine. they have all caught fish in the past and will continue to do so. as with everything in life, start with the basics and the rest will fall in place over time
