Reminds me of my childhood... all my friends and I had these things... so much fun !! Thanks for bringing back the memories. If you see this Nicole, thanks for all the good times!
Dude I can't even tell you how jealous I am! I wanted one of these so freekin bad as a kid! I had 2500 saved when I was 13 yrs old(mowed lawns all summer and raked the beach). My parents absolutely would not let me get a HONDA ODYSSEY. I was so pissed! I still want one today. This is awesome!!!! Great video! I would love to see a lot more of this sweet machine from my past!!!!!! Re-living my childhood! 4 thumbs up dude!!!!
cwthemachinist I didn't have a Honda Odyssey growing up neither but I was blessed to grow up with a manco dingo buggy 8hp Briggs Stratton and the manco dingo's are what they had for mini buggy's my child hood and I have one still today also have a Honda 200s three wheeler and my wife's Polaris trail boss and my manco dingo buggy is more fun then my three wheeler and quad
I rode one back in the 80s and fell in love but I was never able to get one. The saddest thing was when Honda started using the Qdyssey name for their mini vans.
Glad to see these bikes still getting some use. We had two 350's that we bought late 90's and did many of the same things you did to get them both running perfect Sold them around 2008. We had to rebuild both of the rear brakes (new piston seals) because they kept sticking. a primer bulb off a boat will save you a lot of time getting it started.
Thats a great find. I say ride it hard for a season then tear it down and resto-mod it. Paint/powder coat the frame, replace all wearable items, and mod/fix everything that you see fit. Swap and add led lighting, a small winch, and add some lumber padding to the seat. My buddy had one of these when we were kids. I would keep up with our baja bug out in the pasture. I will tell ya the honda doesn't float like a VW does, lessons learned the hard way.....
I had one of these back in the 90's. I so wish I had never gotten rid of it. All hand controlled. Perfect for me since I'm now a paraplegic. Brings back memories.
Dude I'm sitting here trying to go to work and going through Honda Odyssey videos cuz I'm picking one up in 2 days. It is a 250 but I just remember when these things came out I was about 10. I have always wanted one. Always been in to cars. My dad was a gigantic piece of who would sell something as soon as he bought it to fuel his drug problem. never able to have money for much raising two children of my own and blah blah blah. I'm Now 46 and trying to have some toys but you are by far the coolest and most relatable person I have watched on RUclips when it comes to any of this. Just showing me how you took the carb apart and what you went through has taught me tons already. Dying to get my hands on this thing. Always been in restoration and my line of work is homes but I just love making things look as awesome as they are. I'm so glad that I stopped to watch this and figured I would just let you know that you have helped one person out in this world. It looked fun as shit. You opened up that back garage door and I automatically wanted to move close to you so I could have a friend haha. Keep it up brother you are living what appears to me a full and enjoyable life. A gigantic big UPS UP2U.
Oh snap. This brings back some memories. When my friends and I were young (11ish) and ripping around on dirt bikes an older brother of my best friend had went and bought one slightly used. He was the town hero from that point on. Man, those were the days.
Marbles in the gas tank works well with paint thinner to get rust out and won't leave anything behind to cause problems later. Great video and find thanks for sharing.
I had a '77 FL250 back in '82.....Reed Valved it, bored, bigger carb, modified CVT ratio and final drive. It topped out at about 70 mph on the flat deserts of Victorville, CA. A lot of fun...after you got over being scared to death hitting the throttle!
When my son got his fl350 cleaning of his tank made countless holes in it. So, we mounted a spun aluminum tank on the frame above the engine. Mo more crappy fuel pumps, great performance and loads of fun!
I owned a few of these. I'm pretty sure a 400c.c. jug bolts right on. The day i bought my FL-250 . I cut the tube chassis and designed & welded a lower , stronger , radical looking sand rail type frame with side bars Roll cage padding etc. Took the engine apart & replaced the entire Jug with a refreashed 20over complete 350c.c. FL-350 jug, Mikuni flatslide , 5 point harnesses & cordura nylon Wrist straps with velcro to keep my hands on the wheel in case of rollover and an insane expansion chamber that my friend Called the rocket launcher. and welded on a wheelie bar It needed it ! We had 3 pilots we would Do overlandcamping With my wife & son. Best times ever . Thanks for posting !
glad to see someone resurect that kart.... always loved those things, had much fun on one... wished I had another one now like I did when I was younger
Rats and Squirrels have got to be one of the most destructive creatures known to man, no telling how much money and work they’ve cost me through the years. 😫👍
I found a 200 or 250 oddassy frame with some parts for $50 a while back. I been wanting to make it similar to the 350 with independent suspension on all 4 but with a lift for more clearance and travel.. Then I was gonna look for a crashed crotch rocket to take the engine out of making it a 5 or 6 spd. I should get after it this summer.. Ya brought that project back to life.. Thanx for sharing.. Peace!
+Red Beards Garage I had one when I was a kid but it was a little bit older so it didn't have reverse and if I remember correctly no shocks either it was a rough ride. now I wanna find a pilot which is just a little newer oddessy with electric start
I bought a brand new one in 1987, prior to this we had the original ol yellow one, both was a blast, Seeing your video and buggy takes me back to some great memories, Thank You RBG
Had 2 of these back in the late 80's. Took and put a 440 Artic cat on one and a 600 on the other. Talk about some fun. I couldn't begin to tell you how many times we rolled them. Memories
Had a pair of these for years rebuilt about every inch of both, but they were so much fun! Then I blew out my back and cannot ride or drive off road now! Looks good sir!
Just a suggestion RB, Use nuts and bolts rather than pebbles to clean the rust out of a rusty gas tank. They have sharp edges that scrape the rust off better when you shake the tank.
When cleaning the tank...I do this with motorcycle tanks when I finish welding them up. I count up 50 small machine nuts, 6 or 8 mm work great. Put them in the tank with your mineral spirits, put the cap on nice and snug and shake it up for at least five minutes. Then pour everything out and do it again. I use exactly 50 of them so that I know when I'm done, I get all of them out and re-count them. The nuts do a great job of breaking all the debris loose without damaging the tank. Counting them very carefully assures you don't leave anything inside that doesn't belong there.
I have good memories of my time having two FL350's in the early days of those beast's. They were fun, quick and agile. They were able to twist themselves around the most tight corners at any speed. And because they were so low, tipping easily was not an issue often! They were stable. These were the third generation of the Honda Odyssey and it was surpassed only by the Pilot which I did not own, but I heard it was even better. I see this series of vehicles as the predecessor to the latest Side-by-Sides. While most of the SxS's have features that are better in some ways I will never be able to have the operability of the Odyssey's again due to the total hand-controlled operation! I've had to add hand-controls to each vehicle that I've owned since the Odyssey.
When I cleaned my carb on my go kart when I first got it I cleaned the jets and everything when I pulled it I left the air box off it shot out orange gunk. Gotta check the carbs
an old friend of mine, had an Odyssey. His had no reverse gear....obviously an older model than this one, but super fun to ride....we drove that thing into the dirt...in more ways than one. Roll cage came in useful..... : )
my uncle has a Honda Odyssey just like yours and I have rode it a few times it reminds me a lot of my manco dingo buggy Honda Odyssey's and manco dingo's are both fun buggy's to go trail riding and can go anywhere my quad and my three wheeler can go and if you haven't had it out in the snow yet wait until you do you will have a blast
There day i bought my FL-350. I. Cut all the tubes Bought steel tubes Bent , padded ,& painted Compleate chassis That night I Orderd a a Honda 40c.c. head + 20 piston & rings a Flateslide Mikuni a. KILLER pipe ! & small wheelie bar Which is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL.LOL I had that vision when I bought it
great find! a few years ago I ran across a guy who had a fl350 and a pilot 400, they both ran great and he wanted 5k for both but I didn't have the cash.
From my experience with carbs the keihin are suppose to be top of the line carbs in most cases they were and are considered racing upgrades. Im all about customization i have yzf750r with Keihin fcr39 high velocity inline 4 carbs.
Awesome man glad you got it up and running ! My best friend had one growing up oh the fun we had with that and old honda three wheeler's lucky we are all not paralysed
I had one of these in the 90's when I was a kid. My dad ended up selling it for $500 after something broke and caused it to not start up... I wish I still had that thing!!
i use old bolts that i want to clean as well to shake in gas tanks that have tarnished gas (brown nasty knock your sense of smell out for a few days smell) - clean bolts - clean tank - win win ;)
Love the video! I had an '84 FL250 with a aftermarket full cage back in the day......wish I still had it now that I'm in a wheelchair! Worlds first handicap accessible atv right from Honda!!
Front brakes are junk good luck ever getting them to work very good. Lock out neutral or you will burn up the A/B gear in the trans. wear your seat belt and wrist straps PLEASE! My family have owned Odyssey's since they're release in the late 70's I still own a Fl350 with a Rotax 670 sled motor in it very fun. grate vid thanks for bringing one back to life!
I use vice grips quite often to pinch and loosen carb screws if room allows. This combined with it dremeled into a flat head will usually get any stripped phillips out.
I have always wanted the Honda Pilot 686 go cart haven’t seen on in years in sales ads but the odyssey is a pretty nice machine to I like the bow tie steering wheel
Honken awesome..! Ok so short tid bit here... Back in the early to mid 80s I lived in California. My family decided to take a trip into the mountains, we stopped at this dirt track that had a full blown dirt bike track along with a flat track... A truck & trailer pulled in & unloaded a 350 lol.. No markings no nothing, turned out it was Team honda testing the 350 before full blown production... They beat the hell out of it jumping it etc... I always wanted one but of course never could get one as a kid... Cool video man..! There are some aftermarket companies that make long travel suspension kits etc for these with a slew of go fast goodies...
I have one of those that I'm putting a a 500 cc snowmobile engine in because the people who owned it be for me blew up the original engine it had another one in before that that they blew up as well and I've seen ones where people put 1000 cc engines in and they did massive wheelies
I had a neighbor that had one of these way back in the day but his didn't have rear suspension and the fuel tank was a round chrome cylinder shaped and was mounted up behind your head. It also had no electric start and was pull start and had no reverse. There was a 5 point harness seatbelt in it as well. Maybe different model or year idk but I know it was an odyssey. That one there has the throttle on the right of the steering and the break on the left?
i did a frame up resto of my 350r it was a monster. times got hard for me and the fam, so i sold it. these are so hard to come by in decent shape im from so. ill, dude drove all the way from oklhoma to pick it up, just glad it went to a good home, but man i miss it!
I have one sitting in my garage, It runs, but the intake manifold keeps just falling apart, the rubber I mean...Is there one someone makes thats made of aluminum? I have been on pretty much every kind of atv known to man, and the honda odyssey fl350 Is by fall the most FUN I have ever had on an atv, If you can find one and buy it, BUY IT FOR SURE! You will not regret it I promise!
On these Honda Odyssey when you have them sit that long and stuff when you open and clean the carb they always seem to like a one size up main jet to help .they always have run better with a lil bigger jets
I love it. Man we had one back in the late 80s and we rode that thing and wrecked it and bounced it until it was hardly a frame and a engine left. Lol. Man they were fun. We had it ordered with a plexus glass windshield and it lasted about 2 days. We were ruff on stuff man. I remember a hill we called reman hill it was almost straight up for about 1/4 mile with a creek at the bottom and i made it about half way up and rolled it end over end all the way back down to the creek. I couldn't even remember where i was for about 15 minutes after it stoped. I told my buddy that i told you i didnt want to go to carowinds!!!! I dont remember saying that but he said i did. Lol. Anyway great video redbeard . peace.
Plenty of displacement already. Don't hog them out but clean up the transfer ports with a dremel, use a modern carb like from a KTM 300sx, and use ethanol-free premium fuel. DG made a pipe for it that ripped on top ...less low-end but it screamed if you can find one. Nice find red!
Reminds me of my childhood... all my friends and I had these things... so much fun !! Thanks for bringing back the memories. If you see this Nicole, thanks for all the good times!
Thanks for watching man. I wish I would have kept this one but at the time I didn't have the money to get it up and going properly
That looks like my fully modified fl350 oderse😊
Dude I can't even tell you how jealous I am! I wanted one of these so freekin bad as a kid! I had 2500 saved when I was 13 yrs old(mowed lawns all summer and raked the beach). +cwthemachinist that is exactly what I'm doing, reliving a childhood I wish i had. Lol.

Red Beard's Garage is that a 2 seater fox go kart buggy out side
Garyntara7788 Burbank what year is your Honda at 200s I currently have a 1983 Honda 185s
Megaice10 my Honda 200s is a 1983 also the first years Honda made a 200s
I rode one back in the 80s and fell in love but I was never able to get one.
The saddest thing was when Honda started using the Qdyssey name for their mini vans.
If you still want one I have one I will sell you for 3 grand
We recently revived my dad and uncles' Odyssey and it runs better than it did when he was a kid. IT IS SOO MUCH FUN!

Harbor freight has a heated ultrasonic cleaner that works great for cleaning carbs. About $75.00
Little tip for cleaning small engine tanks instead of gravel use can use steel bbs cheap and more effective plus u can reuse them
I had one of these back in the 90's. I so wish I had never gotten rid of it. All hand controlled. Perfect for me since I'm now a paraplegic. Brings back memories.

I had one of those growing up... when I turned 16 I swapped it for my first car... 20 years later I still regret it...
I did the exact same thing! Swapped it and cash for a Chevelle ... then I stupidly I sold the Chevelle to buy a ring.
My dad had one of those when he was a kid sadly now they are mini vans
lol yeah they took a turn for the worse
Jared stutler lmfao
boostedboiz has crazy af odyssey minivan if somebody cares
Nothing wrong with post 2005 Honda Odysseys. Run like champs and fast. But, alas, an fwd offroad van is a lil bit wonky.
Oh snap. This brings back some memories. When my friends and I were young (11ish) and ripping around on dirt bikes an older brother of my best friend had went and bought one slightly used. He was the town hero from that point on. Man, those were the days.

When the neighbor get mad, get a bigger machine. NICE LOL!

Thanks for posting !
I had one of these back in the 90s. I miss it...
That machine at that age...... wayyyy before it's time. Just goes to show how innovative Honda is and what engineering geniuses they are.
glad to see someone resurect that kart.... always loved those things, had much fun on one... wished I had another one now like I did when I was younger
+Christopher Farmer they are awesome
My buddy had one of these. So many fun afternoons. We have a bunch of stories of pulling sleds in the snow. Nice work getting it going.
Rats and Squirrels have got to be one of the most destructive creatures known to man, no telling how much money and work they’ve cost me through the years. 😫👍
Humans are the most destructive creatures
@@nicholasloehrke482 a human rat cost me my job once.

I was looking in the back ground and I saw your light bars and I got reminded that my jeep needs a new light bar so thank you for reminding me
My friend had one of these back in the day. We had so much fun flying around his property! Nice find for sure.
glad to see there's still people out there that love the old toys like I do...long live the odyssey and the atc !
Nice find! Always wanted one. Sounds like there's a lot of life left in that ol' 2 stroke
Nice payback, fire up the 2 stroke.... your neighbor had to love that....
Great vid! I wanted one of those badly when I was a kid!
If you had one as a kid you probably wouldn't be here today. Lol.
+Red Beards Garage I had one when I was a kid but it was a little bit older so it didn't have reverse and if I remember correctly no shocks either it was a rough ride. now I wanna find a pilot which is just a little newer oddessy with electric start
This one has electric start also. The one you had was a fl250. They was more base versions before the fl350s came out.
I'm 43 and I still want one.
VeeDub P8 I haven't had a Honda Odyssey but my manco dingo is just as fun and can go anywhere a Honda Odyssey can go
I remember these back in the 80's AND being very fast and a lot of fun! Nice rebuild!
@21:40 man you brought back years of memories with that sound
My dream go-cart when I was a little kid. A neighbor had one sitting in a barn, and I would just stare at it anytime I could.
This is the first motorized ANYTHING I drove when i was a kid. Kick ass
We don't have it anymore but it was a blast when we did. Thanks for watching
I bought a brand new one in 1987, prior to this we had the original ol yellow one, both was a blast, Seeing your video and buggy takes me back to some great memories, Thank You RBG

We used to have a couple odysseys. They were super fun. Honda builds great toys. The 250r is another great machine.
You just became the coolest kid in town, 1980's style!
Had a pair of these for years rebuilt about every inch of both, but they were so much fun! Then I blew out my back and cannot ride or drive off road now! Looks good sir!

Those old oddesyes are a rare gem. Wish they still made them.

back in the late 90's I had a few FL250's and an FL350. Big tires and a roll bar make a world of difference...
Rode it at a rental dirt track at the beach in Maryland in 1987. It was a blast!
Holly shit! Rarest thing in the world! That is a cool and valuable machine right there! Been trying to find one for years!
I had the privilege to ride one of those Odysseys back 1998 probably and then things are wicked fast
I had a 250 Odyssey ,pulled the 250 honda and put on a 440 artic cat.. what a power difference. looks fun..

Bb's and gas, shake it the fuel tank for about five minute empty add new gas shake and repeat until clean. Bb's work awesome
That is awesome. It should be really fun in the snow! you could enclose the cab with Lexan and put a little heater in there.
There day i bought my FL-350. I. Cut all the tubes
Bought steel tubes
Bent , padded ,& painted
Compleate chassis
That night I Orderd a a Honda 40c.c. head
+ 20 piston & rings
a Flateslide Mikuni
a. KILLER pipe !
& small wheelie bar
Which is ABSOLUTELY
ESSENTIAL.LOL
I had that vision when I bought it
great find! a few years ago I ran across a guy who had a fl350 and a pilot 400, they both ran great and he wanted 5k for both but I didn't have the cash.
This is awesome nice find! I race nitro 2 stroke 1/8 scale buggy's off road. Nothing like 2 stroke power
I got an old FL250 right now its a beast modified hillside frame and water cooled head they are beasts

Had one for a few years. Constantly broke u joints in the rear axles but it was a blast to ride. Had a couple 250's back then too
in 1980 I was in Puyallup,Wa. at the Honda dealer ,they had one of these w/a 480cr engine and 4 speed. it was FAST
My cousin has one. They are INSANELY fun to ride
the odyssey was the first go kart i evr bought when i was i kid around 11 it was deaath trap at tht age lol
1mans life hey lonnie
Ultrasonic cleaner, bro. Your carbs will love you for it.
I use vice grips quite often to pinch and loosen carb screws if room allows. This combined with it dremeled into a flat head will usually get any stripped phillips out.
I watched this vid sitting in my manco go kart
I have always wanted the Honda Pilot 686 go cart haven’t seen on in years in sales ads but the odyssey is a pretty nice machine to I like the bow tie steering wheel
I figured out it was a fl350r dessert beach buggy w those balloon tires. Wow thats amazing
very satisfying watching the shot-vac suck up the fiberglass!
I have always thought the same thing.
Well then, great minds think alike.
Anyone who has watched HeavyWeights will recognize the Honda Odyssey Go Karts in the Grand Prix scene of the Apache Relay
I had a friend growing up in the 80’s that had one of these. It was a hoot👍👍👍👍
I have one of those that I'm putting a a 500 cc snowmobile engine in because the people who owned it be for me blew up the original engine it had another one in before that that they blew up as well and I've seen ones where people put 1000 cc engines in and they did massive wheelies
MUCH RESPECT RED BEARD GARAGE !
I añways enjoy bringing motors back to life good times.
After 30 days gas starts to loose it's octane after 6 months of it sitting it starts to turn to varnish lacquer thinner works great to clean it out
I owned one. They are awesome, I wish I could have kept mine.
If you want mine you can have it for 3 grand
my best friend has a honda oddysey fl350 we love the thing
Thank you go power sports and red beard 🚉🚀🚀🚀🚉🛩🛰🚉🚈🛩
I had a neighbor that had one of these way back in the day but his didn't have rear suspension and the fuel tank was a round chrome cylinder shaped and was mounted up behind your head. It also had no electric start and was pull start and had no reverse. There was a 5 point harness seatbelt in it as well. Maybe different model or year idk but I know it was an odyssey. That one there has the throttle on the right of the steering and the break on the left?
i did a frame up resto of my 350r it was a monster. times got hard for me and the fam, so i sold it. these are so hard to come by in decent shape im from so. ill, dude drove all the way from oklhoma to pick it up, just glad it went to a good home, but man i miss it!
yeah i love this one but it is expensive to build thats for sure
Never had an Odyssey, we had the Honda pilot. 400cc monster!!
The Odyssey is where it got interesting for offroad buggys
Always wanted the odyssey. We had the three wheeler with no suspension instead. Crazy fun. You just had to know how to ride them.
My buddy is selling his 85 FL350. Super fun to drive!
i love how you show and talk about every part of working on these kart's, its a great learning channel!. goodbye my weekend lol.
Lol thanks for watching!!!
Lol. Anyway great video redbeard . peace.
I had one somewhere around 88 I believe. Loved it!
I wonder if you can get a stroker kit for the 350? More power!
+Keith Brettell I don't think there is much out there for performance on these
I see there is also a 400cc model called the Pilot. I guess there'd be no reason to make stroker kit.
Yeah and the piolt was liquid cooled as well
Plenty of displacement already. Don't hog them out but clean up the transfer ports with a dremel, use a modern carb like from a KTM 300sx, and use ethanol-free premium fuel. DG made a pipe for it that ripped on top ...less low-end but it screamed if you can find one.
Nice find red!
Guys take the jug off and replace it with a CR500 top end. Not much to it, I understand.
I had one of those back in the day brings back good memories
