Maestro Dudamel has never disappointed me. In fact, he has exceeded my expectations. He is a man of great honor and dignity. He is getting huge pressure from the LA elited for him to betray his country.....and he won't. Not even for money. Dudamel is NOT a sellout to Imperialism. Learn people..This is true greatness.

Dudamel WILL be remembered in 50 years much the same way that Stokowski's 1929 recording of Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto is remembered or Toscanini's 1936 NY Philharmonic recording of Beethoven's Seventh Symphony is remembered.
That you don't think so is arrogant and interesting; Dudamel is the best thing to happen to conducting in this country since Stokowski become director of The Philadelphia Orch. in 1912.

Best tempo I have heard. All others too fast, and nothing like the Scottish music. Bravo Dudamel.

Not a huge Mendelssohn fan as a rule, but this is a delightful movement and a perfect little gem of sonata form. Doesn't sound the least bit sluggish!

While I've always been very dismissive of the likes of Mendelssohn, Berlioz and Schumann, I have to give a huge amount of credit to Maestro Dudamel here; he's truly a wonder and I hope he has at least as long a successful career as a Toscanini or a Stokowski.
The amount of times that he's actually disappointed me is frightfully rare.

Felix Mendelsohn composed joyful melodies except for his Symphony No. 5, which he is recorded as being the symphony he detested.

Completely disagree, it's much better than the frantic mess most orchestras end up doing. There's some life in this tempo, and the rhythm is accurate.

So you're dismissive of musical giants like Berlioz, Mendelssohn and Schumann and yet give bigger credit to a conductor who won't be remembered in 50 years. Arrogant and interesting.
