I've been running 93 E-free for 2 out of the 3 years I've owned my Ram. Only very rarely putting 92 octane with 10% ethanol. I can tell a difference in power and I have measured about 8 hrs less of run time per tank on the cheap gas. Usually about an extra days worth of driving.
One problem is that knock is largely temp dependant. Hot engine more knock. More ethanol more cooling but worse mpg. You could use a Diablo sport tuner and solve this problem, or water injection/methonal or an additive. In a well cooled cylinder gas MPGs should be best when no knock but also no ethanol. Due to the design of the Mopar v8s I wouldn't doubt they benefit from a little ethanol cooling.

I've been telling people for years that while it's on the bottom of the hemi totem pole, the 5.7 is still a high compression beast that needs premium.
All my hemi sees is 91 . Fuel mileage doesn’t change but the knock sure as hell does !
So 1.5 difference going from 87-91 on this particular truck

Hemi engines benefit from the highest possible octane
Do you have any info on the 3.6 V6? Wondering if 89 made any difference in that as well.

The higher the octane the better when it comes to the hemi engine
