Plus, the anime doesn't really explain the characters' history clearly so only those who spend time searching the infomation about the characters or already know about them will truly fully enjoy the anime.

The show is unexpected, constantly surprising the viewer, while also being a good read/watch for any age demographic. It has deep meanings, tackles a lot of philosophy, has intense fights all the while taking part in a story that we still cannot predict how exactly it will end. If you got the time, i'd highly recommend giving it another go. The author does not disappoint.

I haven't read the original manga, but I don't think Toyohisa actually manages to kill Ii Naomasa here. As for historical facts, Naomasa was shot in the leg by one of Shimazu Yoshihiro's liegemen during this skirmish. Despite being severely wounded, Naomasa willingly takes part in a favoring post-war treaty for the Shimazu clan, deeply impressed by Toyohisa's last stand.
In the three and a half years since this anime aired the mangaka has released like 30 some chapters. They're at 79 or so right now and the anime ended off around 45 IIRC. Honestly one of the most frustrating things in the world.
Unfortunately we probably have to wait a while more for morr to be written, the mangaka updates super slowly so the anime is at about 70% of the manga as it is :(
I really love this anime but I wish the animators made up their minds on the blade length. In a few scenes is a Nodachi, then a Katana, then a Wakizashi. It's tilting.
Most of them have recency bias. I like Mushoku Tensei and I think its one of the better isekai anime out there. But there are better isekai shows out there like Twelve Kingdoms
This is the only Isekai thats actually good since the characters who are badasses were also badasses before going to a new world and not some shut in loser.
