Adore Wind Song. It came out in 1953 as an affordable option (I think) to Nina Ricci L’air du temps~1948, which is also gorgeous. I’ve worn both since high school in the 70s. The latter is a bit weaker now.
Yes. I also noticed the similarity between Wind Song and L'air Du Temps. Also, Avon had a cologne called Topaze. Created in 1959, it lasted until the early 1990's. Several years ago Avon brought it back for a limited amount of time. Topaze was very similar to Wind Song, except that it contained Peach in the top notes and was missing the Musk that Wind Song contained. Topaze because of the peach was a bit gentler on the nose than Wind Song. I always found L'air Du Temps to be sort of non-descript.
I liked your diatribe and agree. I love the classics. A boyfriend bought me Charlie pure perfume for Christmas 1978. Love those years when even cologne was stronger than many eau de parfums are now and the pure perfumes lasted into the next day!
I recently purchased Vanilla Musk with high hopes, but I was so disappointed. All I could detect was musk, and not a bit of vanilla. Where is the vanilla hiding?! I love what you said about not looking down on previous generations and appreciating and respecting all those who came before us. 100% agree.
I just ordered Wind Song - such beautiful packaging and I remember those ads from the 70s too. My favourite perfume as a teenager was ‘If’ by Prue Acton it was in a gorgeous square solid glass bottle with a stopper, from memory it was a rich vanilla woodsy scent- I wish I could find it again.
I own a vintage bottle of Vanilla Musk by Coty Wow I remember the Wind Song Commercial from when I was a kid !Great description peaked my interest I think I’m going to purchase a bottle thank you!
Enjoyed this so much. I love the classics. Such a shame about the Alyssa Ashley. I love AA musk, had often wished I had this but never did buy it. Thanks for sharing.
How fun to watch. Bubble gum Mackie yum yum yum! Love everything about it. The bottle is gorgeous and I love the way it feels in my hand. Wait… did you say butterscotch? Oooooh.
I had been on the fence about this perfume I have been in ❤ with Ginger Lotus for years I wish they would bring it back I was lucky and got my hands on some vintage Sand and Sabel from a drug store and some Ghost Myst and Lady Stetson so underrated!
How is your experience with Mackie? I rarely reach for mine so my bottle will last forever; I do like it but find the dense, creamier-than-I'd-like tuberose challenging to wear. Definitely cannot overspray Mackie. Charlie Gold is kind of a Mackie 'Lite' on my skin, well blended & easier to wear but a bit too sweet for daily use.
Thank you! I always end up with some on my list to research or to buy. Have you ever tried Tweed by Taylor of London? It’s very cheap, it’s vintage, it smells sophisticated to me but no one in my family likes it 😬 i would love to know what you think if it.
Have you ever worn Cachet Noir (for women) by Prince Matchabelli? With (lots of) carnation, cinnamon, pimento, cardamom, fruity notes, other florals & a complex base dominated by benzoin, it smells a bit like a spicy mens' after shave but dries down to a soft feminine floral; unique & interesting. Bear in mind that bottle of your "first" Wind Song, if current & made in China, is NOT the Wind Song of legend, of our grandmothers. My experience with it compels me to hunt down the vintage.
It depends on both the quality of ingredients in the perfume and how it's stored. If it's stored in a hot area in direct sunlight it won't last too long. People vintage perfumes from ebay or mercari and these can be decades old and still smell good.
Have you tried any perfumes from La Rive? They are a Polish brand that does perfume dupes. And when you mentioned Hypnotic Poison I instantly thought of their perfume called "Sweet Hope" and how it is a direct dupe of Hypnotic Poison.
Yes I tried several La Rive fragrances & they all performed just terrible, worse than a body spray after I'd seen other channels say they perform well.
@@ruthannemackinnon588 I've actually tried one La Rive fragrance and it actually stayed on pretty well on me. But it was the Chanel No 5 dupe so I guess it's just stronger in nature.
@@ruthannemackinnon588 Chatte. It definitely does not last as long as Chanel or has the same potency, but it smells pretty good. It's sorta like dipping your toes into the Chanel No 5 pool without the high price or the strong scent.

👏🏽 The classics are where it’s at.

Me a less than 30yo having a bottle of wind song in my bathroom for 20+yrs. it’s a complex and sophisticated fragrance. So good 😊
I absolutely love wind song!! I think it’s beautiful!
Mackie is so beautiful, and so much underated, perfect for summer!! I am sad they don't do a eau de parfum, for this, is my choice for sunny days!

Coty Vanilla Musk is so lovely! I wear it to bed often and I know its a cheapie, but it wears so nice, feels so cozy and lasts on my skin.
What I love about it is it's warmth from the musk, blends well with the vanilla ♥️
@@ruthannemackinnon588 yes its a dusty vanilla. I always have a back up bottle!
Lovely upload I love Charlie blue and wear it alot thank you for sharing with us 😘❤
Lovely, RuthAnne!
Just love your reviews. Really missed you and am glad you're back!! I've been wanting to try Mackie. Just ordered it!

Have you tried any Perry Ellis? Especially 18 orchid?
No Ive not tried any Ellis scents yet
How long does perfume last? Can you have them for years? Do they go bad?
