In the conductor score, the second movement is called "Country Dance". Hoedown is Aaron Copland. As with the first piece entitled Cajun Folk Songs, Ticheli combines folk melodies with original music. In "Ballad", the first folk song introduced by the English Horn is Aux Natchitoches, named for the Native Americans who once lived in the region of Natchitoches, Louisiana. The second folk song is not named, but can also be seen in Ann Savoy: Cajun Music, A Reflection of a People, 1984, vol 1, p 24. The ballad is dedicated to the composer's father, Frank P. Ticheli, III, who passed away in 1996, the year before Cajun Folk Songs II was written. The second movement, "Country Dance" was written in celebration of the birth of the composer's nephew which occurred two months after the death of Ticheli's father.
I read somewhere that movement 1 was based on the somber idea of Native Americans being forced out of their homes. So is movement 2 supposed to be the party all the settlers had after they left, or what?
Guys, if you can't argue like normal people, why are you on the internet? YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO AGREE WITH PEOPLE IN THE RUclips COMMENT SECTIONS, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?! lol jk
