Joseph Rudinksy I can't tell you how the arranger defined those taps, but if you search his video on RUclips, he played the song the EXACT same way. The drumming, the tapping, everything, so it was 100% Geol's arrangement, not Sungha Jung's (not trying to insult Jung btw, I'm just saying).
To anyone complaining that it's not like the original, that's interpretation folks. I think it sounds terrific, and anyone who plays guitar will know the insane amount of practice and work needed to play at this level.

I'm so sick of the insanely jealous hypocrisy of these comments. One guy says you copy too much and the next guy says you didn't do it like the original, too fast, too slow, no feeling. This kid is original and has the skills to play that song however he feels. I'm sure if you threw an electric at him and said copy he could copy to the last vibrato. But, he chooses to demonstrate his brush strokes and it was perfect. I'm betting Slash gives it a thumbs up.
I'm sorry, but he isn't that great on the electric guitar as you say and put him up on a pedestal. He has his own style while playing the acoustic or classical, but he is still a newbie on the electric guitar, he sucks on setting up the effects and its chain, giving it a bad tone, clunky and washy reverb(refer to his canon rock and dancing in a burning Room). He is awesome at what he does on the acoustic and ukulele, but just as you can't compare the hard work and commitment he has put into those instrument, you can't expect his to hold a candle to someone like Slash on the electric guitar(the techniques and skills are similar but yet different due to picking, effects, and pickups. So, yea it's like comparing an F1 Champion to beat a WRC champion in his own sport, without putting in the seat time, relearning the techniques and starting over. The both run on four wheels and are similar, but the bottom line is that the F1 driver would be mediocre at best in WRC unless he relearns everything from scratch and it would still take about 10 years before he excels, vice versa. Good day.

I think it's stupid that everyone on here is labeling this cover as crap because the tone of the song may have changed. It's on acoustic, what the hell do you expect? still, i think this is an amazing cover, and even if you dislike this, at least appreciate and respect the talent and practice needed to play at this level, especially considering that he wrote the arrangement himself.
Personally i like the original. But that's because i'm a huge slash fan. And i'm a guitarrist to, so i know much work Sungha has put into the way he plays. Big respect and applause from me. Keep at it Sungha - soon the ladies will be there.

Yes A cover should COVER the right tune, everything, but this is an arrangement. He is skilled, it sounds absolutely right to me. It doesn't have to be the same, because in reality, when a person listens to a cover, they would want to hear something different than the original version. :)

Yes A cover should COVER the right tune, everything, but this is an arrangement. He is skilled, it sounds absolutely right to me. It doesn't have to be the same, because in reality, when a person listens to a cover, they would want to hear something different than the original version. :)

Anyway in this case i like both version: Sungha Jung is absolutely great with his guitar, but even Jazzy Spaggy is really good at piano with his version.

At first I agreed with your opinion as most of the time I cannot recognize the song. Then I remember, he isn't just any guitar player. Sungha Jung is an artist. Not yet a virtuoso, but he's on his way. This is his interpretation of the song. But as a guitar player, I respect your opinion. =D
