  • Kate Cronin and Liz Fingleton are in the den pitching 'Obeo' - is a compostable box for kitchen food waste. Simply pop open on your countertop and fill with food waste. The duo seeks an investment of €100,000 in return for a 10% equity stake, which is four times as much as their first-round...
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

They must be dreaming if they think this will work in London where councils already supply bags and bins to deal with this type of mess for FREE

I'm so annoyed by this. Why are they thinking they are some tech company doing rounds of funding for crazy money for a paper bag?
The price point is also so silly. I've seen in the euro shops you can get a roll of compostable food waste bags (with like 20) for 3 euro.

How did the government give them working class earned money for trying to sell brown paper bags? Most takeaway delivery companies bring you the food in brown paper bags. These were asking for 3-4 euro per 4 bags?!!

Take a product from the dollar aisle in the supermarket & try making a fancy company out of it. Dumbest product this one.

Im amazed at the funding they raised. If they hit projections in 3 years it might be worth what there valuing it at today, if !!!!. How is the production cost so high ? Lots of shops do paper bags for free.

That's a very fragile appreciation of Dragon's contribution. If it was for me, I would surely raise equity offer 25 for both Dragon's coming in, and ask for same valuation. I get a feeling that Dragon's would agree.

Lots of councils in the UK supply free compostable bags and boxes for food waste. This is really crap. The business never worked apparently. Not surprising.

We like to give back to the talentless middle class fake entrepreneurs here in Ireland. They got government funding ( aka working class earned money) for brown paper bags that exist already and are cheaper than the amount they wanted.

Simon Farrimond but the idea isn't patentable or even unique for that matter, so a 'licence' cannot be granted, however it's refreshing to see that you can look at the worst ideas and still find the good in it, we need more of that 😀

Another unnecessary product. If you want to store food scraps to compost, then I can use small bucket with a lid that is stored under the sink to take to the garden composter every week. I can also just dump it into my kitchen waste bin and be done with it. Why must inventors complicate things because they think they have come up with an idea if a simple one already exists. No need to waste more money on extra bags.
