Okay, how about a voice of reason here: while I believe that Daniel Penny is to be commended for intervening and restraining an erratically-behaving person, is it fair to ask whether, at some point, Daniel might have determined that the guy was sufficiently under control that Daniel could have eased up on the choke hold so as to avoid a fatal result? Wouldn't his military training have provided him with the skill to gauge that?

@@kentmorton2872 I commend him for intervening to stop a perceived imminent threat-- apparently perceived that way by a lot of the riders there that day. My broader point, Kent, is that I wish he would have eased up on the choke hold in time to keep this from being a fatal event, or not used a choke hold at all. I admit, I honestly don't know, and I'm not in Daniel's shoes. But I will say this-- as with the vast majority of these unfortunate cases, Jordan created the situation that led to his own death. Doesn't seem fair to try to pin it on a guy who, in good faith, tried to get Jordan under control. And it ESPECIALLY doesn't seem fair to try to make a RACIAL thing out of it.
