Wait...Peter Quill....wouldn't know what a girl who just lost her mother, is going through? That seems...like a strange line. Or are they not working off that particular background detail with this version of Quill?
@@michaelarcher1577 but that's not family. At least not how this game, and most of Marvel tries to frame it. at least MCU Peter clearly implied that growing up with them was traumatic, given how they constantly threatened to eat him. Yondu tries to brush it off as a joke, and Peter points out "Not to me it wasn't!!" So that's hardly a "family". My point though is specifically about the fact, that they have Peter, a guy who's origin story is built entirely around losing his mom at a young age, is telling another young kid, who also lost their mom, that he doesn't know what she's going through. That's just...silly. Maybe he would mention that if the player had chosen the "Empathize with her" option? But I could swear he says that line entirely before any player input is brought into the scene. Again, maybe they don't use his dead mom as an emotional anchor for this video game Peter, haven't played it, so maybe they changed that. But I'm guessing they didn't.
@@happyninja42 The writers are trying to say that not everyone has the same experience losing a loved one, how one person handles grief and emotions is very different to another persons, there may be similarities but to tell someone that you know what they are going through would be just plain wrong.
Like Peter said, it's different for everyone, especially with how you lose someone. People handles grief differently. You can say 'I know how you feel', but not every person wants to hear that.
One of the choices show Peter saying he can relate, but then Nikki says she doesn't care what he feels. That she saw his Promise along with many others and it didn't help her. I like this choice better.
I find it interesting that she considers Peter her father which may come from her may not know that Peter is not her father and may not know that she is adopted.
@@Law10205 That is exactly what I was saying, though thanks for condensing it into a more coherent statement. I was stating that Nikki was thinking that Peter was her father.
If you don’t know the whole thesis of this game is grief we all lose people in our precious time on earth we will all die our love ones will die but for some people it’s too much for us to understand so we try to pretend they’re still alive somewhere. We can’t bring back those we lost but we can’t live on in Denial. But we’re not alone this is what guardians of the galaxy is saying you have the power to reject the lie but never forget you have people to help you push and overcome grief.

Honestly, I agree. On the bright side, he can still be a father-figure to her. But I still wish they’d have just pulled the trigger and let Nikki be his actual daughter. It would have been an interesting twist for this version of Starlord. By having the setup and not delivering, it feels like they just chickened out of it.
@@JazneoGaming She’s adopted. Ko-Rel found her while all other impure Kree were being wiped out and decided to take the girl as her own instead of killing her.
Doesn't change the fact that he's gonna have to play Dad, since at the end of the game, when she becomes part of the guardians of the Galaxy, Peter acknowledged that she may need some parental guidance. Plus, if there's one thing this game makes very clear is that you don't need to be blood related to be family.
I was looking for it too but it seems to be very different in the OST. Basically it's the last minute of the music titled "Birthright" but it sounds so different . Then the rest it's "Good People Never Really Die" Both music composed by Richard Jacques.
Its funny because you can progress the cutscene without breaking the stuff, so it cuts from Nikki saying "c'mon Dad we gotta prepare for mom's birthday!" To "I HATE YOU! YOURE NOT MY DAD!" Seemingly with no reason.
Wasn't a fan of the twist tbh. Literally 90 percent of the game starlord matures as he learns to accept the responsibility that he has a child and that he has to save her as her father. After the reveal it just felt like now he just had to continue since he already started it. There was no more personal connection between them. There wasn't even a talk between them after Nikki joins the team. The father-daughter dynamic was scrapped which really sucks.

Certainly fits the theme from Phase 4 and the beginning of Phase 5, which is parenthood, family, or raising the next generation.
i understand her feeling, its impossible to explain, but, i know , there is a reality where i have a daughter, its exact same feeling, even if all scream its a lie you have nobody , and never will, ............ i feel her inside me, wish my hug, ........... let say, she lose here father and i had never change to get here, now we seek each (i know none understand me now

SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THE SONG PLAYING WHILE PETER SMASHES THE STUFF AND TALKS TO NIKKI
Absolutely brilliant game, this moment always stuck with me, very real way of describing grief 😢
Wait...Peter Quill....wouldn't know what a girl who just lost her mother, is going through? That seems...like a strange line. Or are they not working off that particular background detail with this version of Quill?
Peter had a family to come back to eventually. Those were the Ravagers.
No she just had the same thought process and peter, she did the math as well and assumed the same he did
@@Law10205 That is exactly what I was saying, though thanks for condensing it into a more coherent statement.

I hope a sequel comes for this game, just beat it today
They really need to stop making games and start making films, because oh my god, the writing is so damn perfect! Like seriously, they've blown the MCU Guardians out of the water with how good this is

I was hoping Nikki will be peters kid that was a disappointment
Honestly, I agree. On the bright side, he can still be a father-figure to her. But I still wish they’d have just pulled the trigger and let Nikki be his actual daughter. It would have been an interesting twist for this version of Starlord. By having the setup and not delivering, it feels like they just chickened out of it.
they try to play "even he is not her father but he is her daddy" as the movie with yondu lmao.
@@dragonsword8129 but he is the father i have save her from the faith lord guys. she has blond hair
@@JazneoGaming She’s adopted. Ko-Rel found her while all other impure Kree were being wiped out and decided to take the girl as her own instead of killing her.
Honestly, she should’ve actually been his daughter, when they said she wasn’t I was super disappointed
@@julio.dealmeidabranconeto5831 Yeah the biggest thing about Guardians of the Galxy has always been about found family

Anyone know what the soundtrack for the first half of Peter and Nikki’s talk is?
I was looking for it too but it seems to be very different in the OST. Basically it's the last minute of the music titled "Birthright" but it sounds so different . Then the rest it's "Good People Never Really Die" Both music composed by Richard Jacques.
@@conyo985 I think it's Moment of Truth
@@tomaspedro8344 I listened to the whole track. It does have that section of the music but it's still short.
White hair + Blonde hair ≠ Black hair
To be fair what you said works mostly for humans
While Ko-Rell was an alien
Secondly when you return to the ship you can go to nikkis room and it says that she's been dying her hair
@@blecandy1232 Yep, she was hiding her true hair color.
Nikki's voice actor is so amazing. Also, the pain in Peter's eyes as he's told he's not her father just tore me. This game is just so amazing.
Its funny because you can progress the cutscene without breaking the stuff, so it cuts from Nikki saying "c'mon Dad we gotta prepare for mom's birthday!" To "I HATE YOU! YOURE NOT MY DAD!" Seemingly with no reason.
Probably the best multiplatform marvel game
I loved this scene so much with Nikki
Man that's DEEP
Very emotional
Wasn't a fan of the twist tbh. Literally 90 percent of the game starlord matures as he learns to accept the responsibility that he has a child and that he has to save her as her father. After the reveal it just felt like now he just had to continue since he already started it. There was no more personal connection between them. There wasn't even a talk between them after Nikki joins the team. The father-daughter dynamic was scrapped which really sucks.
So fuck found family then?
@@Ghostrama13 Peter has the entire guardians as his found family, there wasn't any need to have another one.
@@soniaskyfan112 Wasn't this entire thing in GOTG 2? Like, the entire lesson was about found family and how blood doesn't exactly make family.
If you feel as if the relationship between Nikki and Star Lord was only special because of the familial connection then that's more on you than anything else.
