    Been needing this! Had my banjo tuned and I’ve been going through your beginner bluegrass series. Cripple creek was fine but when I got to banjo in the hollow I couldn’t get over how off it sounded at the 10th fret. Much better now

    What are your thoughts about a compensated bridge? My third string always seems a little off

    • @JimPankey
      @JimPankey  Год назад

      Some banjos may need a little more help on the third string. I used to mentally labor over making sure every string was exactly intonated and tried a variety of compensated bridges. Anymore I get the first string right and leave it at that. Though, in this video, I do adjust for the third.

    Hey Jim, I have a problem where even if I am perfectly in tune as soon as I put a capo on it pulls the banjo out of tune (sharp). It's bad enough to where my band mates notice. It's very consistent whether fret 1 through 5. Could this be related to bridge placement? Using a shubb with pressure very low.

    • @JimPankey
      @JimPankey  Год назад +1

      Could be.

    What about the 5th string? Does that have to be the same open and fretted at the 12th fret?? When I play 5th string open it's G. But held down at the 12th fret it's D

    • @JimPankey
      @JimPankey  Месяц назад +1

      Because the fifth string starts at the 5th fret you’ll need to check it at the 17th

    Jim I actually remembered the bridge placement from an earlier video I watched . And that’s what I have been doing since . I’m now on banjo number 3 . I looking to upgrade to a RKR 35 or 36 in another year . After going to an event featuring Dailey and Vincent . I’m more motivated to pick up the pace . Next on my agenda the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival . 👏🪕
