You can see why John Townsend says they only cooked one meal a day. Everything else was served cold, or just warmed up. I can't imagine cooking over a fire in the dead cold of winter or the blazing heat of summer. Love your clothes!

This was very interesting! I think you are providing a good service in informing people about the history of common people. It's eye opening to realize how difficult it was for our ancestors to raise animals for meat and grow fresh produce and then then prepare it for the table. We take so much for granted. You made a lovely dinner and I hope your family enjoyed and appreciated your tasty efforts.

My husband and I really enjoyed watching this together and were both so impressed with how you made everything (and wanted to help you out and join in). I love the historical portions as always and think it was quite demanding of a woman to do the cooking outside like that while also doing her best to mind the babies (and keep them away from the fire too). It is something I never really though much about!

5hrs is a long time but that plate looked absolutely beautiful & delicious!
