I recently re-watched the whole SAC series for probably the 10th time in my life and I wanted to see if there were some covers for Inner Universe online, and I got to say.....this is just...Amazing guys! BRAVO!!! It's like Cowboy Bebop was pregnant with Stand Alone Complex. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!! :)
Still one of my favourite arrangements from you guys. Amazingly different that elevates the song to something more. That time signature is off the charts!
These Platina Jazz covers just make me love Yoko Kanno all the more. An ideal cover song brings the music beyond the original intentions or even imagination of the original composer. This piece and others like Tank and Real Folk Blues, articulate a lot of the subtleties and nuances that were there in the original compositions but half-hidden and just waiting to be brought into the open.
Katsume Stuff & Adventures her soundtracks for Stand Alone Complex sound far more like her later work in Darker Than Black than it does her work in Bepop, but you can TASTE the transition

I thought it would sound strange without the vocals but it's a stunning tribute to one hell of an anime and an amazing singer. RIP Origa.
