Loving someone is probably the worst thing that can happen to a person, the thought of losing them, the pain of seeing them with someone else is so unexplainable n it doesn’t heal, you can only distract yourself from thoughts about them but at the end of each day they rush to your mind aching every bone n reminding you of the torturous pain of losing the only person you could ever love.
It really is. Having to go through every single day of your life with those thoughts, it’s too painful. It just makes me wonder how they could move on so quickly..
This movie was wild for me at varying life stages. I watched it as a teen on release with a crush and remember leaving the theater thinking, "wow that was waste of time".. Watched it again a few years later having found what I thought was true love at the time in my early 20's, she cheated on me, didn't tell me and went off with another guy without giving me any reason or closure. I remember being so infuriated by that as though she owed me something. At the time I felt like I related to Tom so much and being angry at the same time. I found the ending so meaningless/empty and couldn't imagine my life with anybody else. I (embarrassingly much later) realized it was all mostly in my head, I held her up on a pedestal and completely ignored all the warning signs when we were together. I then watched it again a few years later and found myself again seeing it in completely different light. This time relating to Tom as being naive and perhaps a little stupid. Anyway... absolute masterpiece of a movie, and one I think we can all relate to at different points. In a weird way I think it was an important experience to go through in order to get to where I am today. So don't shy away from love, it can be amazing when you meet the right person and the experiences along the way can be lifechanging! For anyone reading this going through a rough time/breakup, hang in there.. it all gets better and there's someone out there more deserving of you! P.S. Sorry for the essay.

Somehow this song brings me back to those moments in time. I sure did give it my all, did so many wonderful things for her during our time together. Though I guess it wasn’t enough in the end. Eventually went our separate ways. One of the hardest things to let go of that deep burning desire to wanting to marry her. The transition was rough, took time but eventually got thru it n started dating again. Oddly enough, we reunited (years later) and remain good friends n meet up every so often for lunch. Time has an interesting way of coming back around . Thing is truly loving someone is also realising that you might have to let them go in order for them to blossom. Some people aren't meant for each other and there's nothing wrong with that, if anything there should be some relief when you realise the person you've been trying to get with or are with, aren't for you. All in all, you know when it's your person because they'll make you feel nothing but love and all you'll want to do is be there for them. I really do hope everyone gets to meet there person because that feeling of true love is just the most amazing thing. A perfect example of true love in a movie is Enchanted(2007), the relationship between Robert and Gizelle is literally true love, the way Robert says he doesn't sing or dance but towards the end of the movie he does these things with Gizelle and he didn't even do these things with Nancy which is who he wanted to marry, this here just proves that Robert and Gizelle are meant for each other. When your with your person, you'll do and say things you wouldn't otherwise do because all you'll feel is them and there could be a million people in the same room with you but you wouldn't even noticed because all your mind will be filled with is them. One of my favorite things about this movie is the symbolism. The director said that Summer always wears blue. The lighter the color the more she is in love with tom. As the movie goes on the blue gets a darker and more faded. At the very end of the movie its very muted blue; almost gray. Symbolizing they are over.
Summer wasn't the one at fault in this story, Tom was. Why? Tom just suddenly started to feel a great love for a girl he saw. That was his first mistake. He thought that because the girl in the story loved The Smiths, he would do almost anything for her. But Tom and Summer were not true person for each other. Summer realized this early and woke up one morning and made the right decision. But Tom wanted to carry on in his own mind. And he suffered greatly as a result. Tom never really loved Summer. But he thought he did. So in your own story, if you think you are Tom, stop and ask yourself. What was the mistake you made? And most importantly, did the right person come along in the summer or will you still have time to experience the fall?

One of my favorite things about this movie is the symbolism. The director said that Summer always wears blue. The lighter the color the more she is in love with tom. As the movie goes on the blue gets a darker and more faded. At the very end of the movie its very muted blue; almost gray. Symbolizing they are over.

Summer wasn't the one at fault in this story, Tom was. Why? Tom just suddenly started to feel a great love for a girl he saw. That was his first mistake. He thought that because the girl in the story loved The Smiths, he would do almost anything for her. But Tom and Summer were not true person for each other. Summer realized this early and woke up one morning and made the right decision. But Tom wanted to carry on in his own mind. And he suffered greatly as a result. Tom never really loved Summer. But he thought he did. So in your own story, if you think you are Tom, stop and ask yourself. What was the mistake you made? And most importantly, did the right person come along in the summer or will you still have time to experience the fall?
