You could push a plastic dish onto the spike too, that's an easy option. It just means to have to use more foliage etc to cover the plastic dish. Also my arrangement would be difficult to water!!!! Which I didn't think off during construction 🤔

Love the rustic wood and rich colours. Sharon how will you top up with water? I’m not a huge fan of foam, just can’t seem to keep it fully hydrated. Course it doesn’t help when I keep repositioning flowers
Thats a very good question. I have commented on two other posts about watering the foam, so its definitely a hot topic and something I should have been more professional about! My concern at the beginning was to not use a plastic dish that was going to be difficult to cover, so I wasn't thinking about watering it!! Which is a bit silly. So in hindsight, I should have used a plastic dish which would have made it easy to water. As it is now, its probably impossible to water without getting the wooden stand wet. For this I would have to slowly pour water from the top of the arrangement, Alternatively I wouldn't use the tap and then I could lift the whole design off the spike and sit the foam in water and then sit it back on top. Or I could have covered the foam in cling film to prevent water loss. I did this for the design on a wine bottle. Hope that helps.
@@sharondower Thanks Sharon. How long do you leave your foam soaking. I was told at my class 5 mins?
@JackieNussey-mh7og it depends on the brand, Oasis brand is only 2 minutes, other brands are longer. Are you placing it on the water and allowing it to sink under its own wait! Some cheaper brands don't hydrate so well!
@@sharondower yes that’s what I’ve been doing Don’t always use branded foam so maybe it’s just inferior, or could be my heavy handedness🔨

Can I ask how you top up the water in the foam? Is there a trick or a knack to getting water in there?
I just commented on another post that I probably made a mistake during construction in not adding a plastic dish on the bottom as I've now made it difficult to water!!!! So there isn't a trick or knack!! In hindsight I should have added a plastic dish pushed onto the spike first, then it would have been easier to water but would have needed more foliage to cover the dish.
