This was pretty much the only Nicktoons crossover of the earlier generations. It would be a long time til we saw Rocko and Stimpy together again at some point, while Doug was already long gone
John Dillworth had to start somewhere in his career. He would later form Stretch Animation Films, which would issue several cartoon pilots in the 1990's and 2000's, the biggest and best known series was "Courage The Cowardly Dog." This commercial was from when Spumco was out, and Games Animation Productions was in with "Ren & Stimpy's" cartoons. John K. had already been fired and released from Nickelodeon Studios.
If John Dilworth really did work on this... I'll say right now that he really NAILED the style that time Compared to the Nickelodeon bumper he animated back then this is really accurate to the show's style and feel (If he were here rn I'd congratulate him on that)
I wish they would make a nicktoons movie crossover featuring only the best of the best classics from Nickelodeon (SpongeBob, Ren and Stimpy, Rockos modern life, Catdog, Ahh real monsters and Invader Zim)
Not weird to me since these are the earlier Nicktoons I miss the Nickelodeon commercials showing their classic cartoons before Spongebob these were in the early 90's.
I loved watching this commercial every day always cracked me up Ren always seemed like he was high as a kite and why they didn't have Tommy from Rugrats in here
Well, not exactly the end slogan I was looking for, but I think I've got it: "What fun Fruit Roll-up will the Fruit Roll-ups Factory roll out with next?" Say THAT five times fast. XD
@@bradyanderson1142 I'm not sure, but I like to believe that it had to do with the Rugrats show being deep on hold at the time. The show was in reruns in the one year before and after this campaign ran.
This commercial came around 1993-94, after John K. was fired and Bob Camp took over "Ren & Stimpy", so John was not involved. You can tell by Billy West voicing both Ren and Stimpy in this ad. Billy West voices Doug as well.

If there was ever a Roger Rabbit version of Ren and Stimpy, with them as cartoons in a live-action world, DAMN, I would feel sorry for the people living with them.
So let me try to figure this out; Ren builds some contraption out of his stinky sweat socks that makes fruit roll ups, stimpy makes the suck stronger which gets them all turned into fruit roll ups (and if Ren's plan was ruined by doing that, what was his plan to begin with?!) and then a kid commits cannibalism on them?! What a messed up ad!
Ren's plan was actually to make fruit roll ups made from his stinky sweat socks hence why he wanted the machine to suck only the scent of the socks up. Due to Stimpy's clumsiness the machine sucked Ren and the rest of them up.
This is oddly specific but something needs to be said about the realistic lighting & shading on cartoon characters in live action during the post-Rodger Rabbit but pre-Gumball era. With CGI this method is relatively obsolete but it’s almost surreal seeing this method work on disparate art styles.
Sad how Doug is the only one here without a representative in Nickelodeon All Star Brawl, which is probably the best Nicktoons crossover we’ve ever had so far. Hope they eventually add him.
@@pacmanfan-sz9ryAnd because Doug is owned by Disney, Doug cannot be allowed in ANY of the Nicktoons video game crossovers, this means that Doug sadly will never be in a new Nickelodeon Kart Racers, nor in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl nor it’s sequel, not even in DLC.
You can tell Billy West was the only Nicktoon voice actor in this commercial, since only Ren, Doug and Stimpy speak.

If he didn't work on the original, i'm quite impressed. Not a lot of people can draw Ren correctly
And the only needed two voice actors for this job, Billy West and the announcer.

You don't ever see cartoons on commericals like that anymore
