Doesn't it make a lot more sense that Abraham was taught the Hebrew of "Friendship/Coalition" rather than the Hebrew of "The Going Over"? Why is the assumption that a thing someone teaches another person would derive the word used to refer to it from the name of a person? As the etymology is a mystery until some scribal document arises that explains the meaning, it should be considered that the scribes may have intended an obscure etymology. Whether the word derives from apiru or not, the scribes who wrote the Hebrew texts were familiar with the word and aware of the reality that various archives of cuneiform referred to the last marauders of the Levant before the scribally attested time of the establishment of Israel as apiru. If the Exodus didn't happen, and the last group of marauders attacking the Levant were the apiru, then those who assert a fictional Exodus should at least be met with with the requirement to accept the epistemic uncertainty of the reality of the influx into the Levant at that time. And if we can only know that scribes scribing contrived the word Hebrew, then there shouldn't really be a scholarly 'probably' concerning its point of derivation.

Ur Kaśdim is mentioned four times in the Hebrew Bible/ Old Testament, in the Book of Genesis (Genesis 11:28, Genesis 11:31, Genesis 15:7), and the Book of Nehemiah (Nehemiah 9:7). The distinction "Kaśdim" is usually rendered in English as "of the Chaldees." In Genesis, the name is found in 11:28, 11:31 and 15:7. Although not explicitly stated in the Tanakh, it is generally understood to be the birthplace of Abraham. Genesis 11:27-28 names it as the death place of Abraham's brother Haran, and the point of departure of Terah's household, including his son Abraham. In Genesis 12:1, after Abraham and his father Terah have left Ur Kaśdim for the city of Haran, God instructs Abraham to leave his native land (Hebrew מולדת moledet). The traditional Jewish interpretation of the word moledet is "birthplace". In Genesis 24:4-10, Abraham instructs his servant to bring a wife for Isaac from his moledet, and the servant departs for Haran. The Septuagint translation of Genesis does not include the term "Ur"; instead it describes the "Land of the Chaldees" (Greek χώρα Χαλδαίων, Chora Chaldaion). Some scholars have held that biblical Ur was not a city at all, but simply a word for land. The Book of Jubilees states that Ur was founded in 1688 Anno Mundi (year of the world) by 'Ur son of Kesed, presumably the offspring of Arphaxad, adding that in this same year wars began on Earth. "And ’Ûr, the son of Kêsêd, built the city of ’Arâ of the Chaldees, and called its name after his own name and the name of his father." (Jubilees 11:3). Some interpretations are that Abraham was born in Haran. There’s still an ongoing debate about where ‘Ur’ it is but it’s either in Urpah, Turkey or in Iraq. Most scientists believe it is the ancient Sumerian city Ur that is now in Iraq. In general Ur in Sumerian language is city. ***** Hebrew is not a dialect of Arabic. I don’t know where you picked this notion from… The oldest language called Hebrew is certainly older than the oldest language called Arabic, though the oldest form of Arabic still intelligible to modern speakers (early Modern Standard Arabic) is probably older than Modern Hebrew. I actually pointed out to the linguistic origins of it without over extending due to the nature of this media. Of course Hebrew as it is used in its modern form did not exist. That is a renewed/ revived language. It was to give you an idea of something that is as close as possible to a language you can obtain basic knowledge of to get an idea of what I am referring to. As for Christianity and the original language that was used in its beginning: Modern scholarship understands that Jesus would have most likely understood some Hebrew but argue that Aramaic was the language during Jesus' time in the Galilee, and would have been the language spoken in His ministry and to His disciples. Before Arabic became so wide spread in the Middle East, the Aramaic language had that role. The Aramaic language began in approximately the 11th century B.C.E and was used among the Aramaeans. The Aramaeans were from what is now Syria and some of the surrounding territory. I am more than willing to educate you about the original language of the Bible and holy scriptures but considering you lecture on biblical matters your ignorance is quite surprising. The Hebrew Bible (The Jews call it Tanakh) was mainly written in Biblical Hebrew with some portions Biblical Aramaic. (In particular in Daniel and Ezra). Biblical Hebrew עִבְרִית מִקְרָאִית (Ivrit Miqra'it) or לְשׁוֹן הַמִּקְרָא (Leshon ha-Miqra), also called Classical Hebrew, is an archaic form of the Hebrew language, (which makes reading the Bible challenging for modern Hebrew Speakers). The Biblical Hebrew is a language in the Canaanitic branch of the Semitic languages spoken by the Israelites in the area known as the Land of Israel. The term "Hebrew" was not used for the language in the Hebrew Bible, which was referred to as שְֹפַת כְּנַעַן "language of Canaan" or יְהוּדִית, "Judean", but it was used in Koine Greek and Mishnaic Hebrew texts. The very first translation of the Hebrew Bible was into Greek. This translation is known as the Septuagint (LXX), a name that derives from a legend that seventy separate translators all produced identical texts; this legend was created to promote the authority of this translation. In fact, the development of the Septuagint was a gradual process: it began some time in the 3rd or 2nd century BCE, when the first portion of the Hebrew Bible, the Torah, was translated into Koine Greek. Over the next century, other books were translated as well. The Septuagint was widely used by Greek-speaking Jews. It differs somewhat in content from the later standardised Hebrew Bible, known as the Masoretic Text (MT). Later, for Christians, the Septuagint became the received text of the Old Testament in the Catholic Church, and the basis of its canon. The Latin Vulgate by Jerome was based upon the Hebrew for those books of the Bible preserved in the Jewish canon (as reflected in the Masoretic Text), and on the Greek text for the rest. Other ancient Jewish translations, such as the Aramaic Targums, conform closely to the Masoretic Text, and all medieval and modern Jewish translations are based upon the same. Christian translations also tend to be based upon the Hebrew, though some denominations prefer the Septuagint (or may cite variant readings from both). As for the deuterocanonical books. Here is where it gets more tricky: It’s widely accepted that these books were mostly written between 300 BCE and 300 CE. The thing is that they were written in different times, places, contexts and languages by multiple authors for different reasons. There’s no agreement between scholars there and debate revolves around which languages each of the deuterocanonicals was originally written. Many of the oldest surviving texts are in Koine Greek, but show features of Semitic languages (usually Semitisms like Hebrew, Aramaic or Syriac), which leads some scholars to argue that the original text, even though lost, may have been written in a Semitic language rather than Greek. On the other hand in other cases, the Greek seems more fluent and may be considered original. One of the youngest of these books, 2 Esdras, has a complex composition history with a probable mix of Hebrew, Latin and Greek origins. And now for the really interesting part: The books of the Christian New Testament are widely agreed to have originally been written in Greek, specifically Koine Greek, even though some authors often included translations from Hebrew and Aramaic texts. Certainly the Pauline Epistles were written in Greek (for Greek-speaking audiences). Koine Greek was the most prevalent form of Greek which emerged in post-classical antiquity (around c.300 BC to AD 300), and marks the third period in the history of the Greek language. It’s also called Alexandrian, Hellenistic, Common, or New Testament Greek. Some scholars believe that some books of the Greek New Testament (in particular, the Gospel of Matthew) are actually translations of a Hebrew or Aramaic original; For example in the opening to the Gospel of John, which some scholars argue to be a Greek translation of an Aramaic hymn; Of these, a small number accept the Syriac Peshitta as representative of the original. Some traditional Roman Catholic scholars believe the Gospel of Mark was originally written in Latin. Yet, the received text of the New Testament is Greek and nearly all translations are based upon the Greek text.
I mean, while the Crown of Aragon did have control over Kingdoms of Sicily and Naples during the 14th century onwards, Spain and Italy are not in the same area. I'm confused about why he's lumping Italy into this. What?

Episodes like this demonstrate how bat shit crazy some folks can be interpreting the Bible and developing their own exegesis...this leads to doing the same with politics and conspiracy thinking.....they've got it all worked out.
By this logic Abraham must be from Dagestan, the home of the Avars. Abram would have to be a Semetic speaker, traveling from the Akkadian speaking to NW Semetic speaking to Egypt (Afroasiatic, NW and W Semetic speaking) the to Arabia (S. Semetic). At no point in his life is he shown stepping out of the Semetic speaking world. Moreover there is no historicity associated with the story, and if there was the name attached to it probably changed. For example the flood myth in Mesopotamia, each of 3 different attestations had a different flood hero.

Hey Dan, two questions. First, why is it that so many of the creators you respond to have really odd music in their soundtracks? Is that a thing in the fundy world? Second, is there a searchable database of your videos that can be used to find your videos on specific topics and/or texts?

"And ’Ûr, the son of Kêsêd, built the city of ’Arâ of the Chaldees, and called its name after his own name and the name of his father." (Jubilees 11:3).
Some interpretations are that Abraham was born in Haran.
There’s still an ongoing debate about where ‘Ur’ it is but it’s either in Urpah, Turkey or in Iraq.
Most scientists believe it is the ancient Sumerian city Ur that is now in Iraq.
In general Ur in Sumerian language is city.

Hebrew is not a dialect of Arabic.
And now for the really interesting part:
The books of the Christian New Testament are widely agreed to have originally been written in Greek, specifically Koine Greek, even though some authors often included translations from Hebrew and Aramaic texts.
It's not potentially antisemitic, it's blatantly antisemitic. This garbage was being discussed on the Stormfront board in 2003.
I mean, while the Crown of Aragon did have control over Kingdoms of Sicily and Naples during the 14th century onwards, Spain and Italy are not in the same area. I'm confused about why he's lumping Italy into this.
What?
Wait, does the conspiracy involve moving Italy? I think I lost the thread of the argument just after the bit where time goes backwards.
Here's where I'm at: The Biblical account is imaginary anyway . . . so this guy is just riffing on an imaginary story. He just needs to acknowledge that's what's going on and we're all good. It's fanfiction on fanfiction.
Though I know it's flawed, Strong's has been useful to me (searching for instances of particular words/showing that different translated words are the same Hebrew word, etc.). Plus, with apps such as "E-sword," it is free.
What are better suggestions as a replacement?
You always know you're getting high quality info when they have to scroll about 10 links down in the search results to find the 1 page that backs up their claim 🙄
Oh! Good gods, I've had this question in my head for decades why some artwork of the crucified Jesus had INRI on the paper over his head describing the charges that led to him being up there. I cross-check the Latin now and it all makes sense. Thank you.
"Portugal, Spain, Italy." 😂
But I am also almost whispering to show I'm serious.
When I was his age I thought that if I paired each of the opposing Taoist hexagrams and placed each pairing on each of the faces of an Icosododecahedron, it would act as a model of the cosmos. When I was done I realized I'd only made a meaningless and bland-looking art project. Until now, I never told anybody about it except my mom.
The desperate search for conspiracies and "I am the one who has finally figured everything out, send me money." And though he didn't ask, I'm willing to bet he'll get there soon.
Surprised you didn't mention that before the Iberian peninsula got its name the word Iberia used to refer to a region in the Caucasus. Usually refered to nowadays as Classical Iberia
I think its good you share your knowledge, but i am getting tired of the shaming vids....i understand you want to correct ppl, but acting as if everyone else is stupid is not the way. sorry.
I did some amateur digging. It doesn’t even seem that the name Iberia was used back then. That name came from the Ancient Greeks and Romans. Also that’s a long way for someone to travel.
And there you go with the actual facts. He had such a great story.
Thanks Dan
So, Strong's Concordance doesn't give you a strong argument?
Not irony but a funny coincidence.
Am I the only person who misses the days when people with these crazy theories just stood on street corners trying to pass out their pamphlets they copied at Kinkos? You know the ones when you see them, you will cross the street to avoid them? 😂 Though Dan is better than crossing the street! Biblical scholar for the win!💯
why do they always whisper like that lmaooo ... it's so embarassing when they do that and come up with insanely poor researched ideas and pretend it's a conspiracy
you couldnt pay me enough to actually believe Abraham was a real person.
and if you paid tuition to be told he was real, you wasted your money
Making up stories about made up stories and acting like they're true is a good way to show everyone that you are not very bright.
the idea that those guys would even look at proper academic sources is laughable
When they start out by saying "What if I told you...", there is a strong chance the answer in my head will be "What if you actually knew what you were talking about?"
He doesn't even explore the Iberia in the Caucasus
wait - does that guy think Italy is in the Iberian peninsula?
They're just not trying anymore.
Iberian peninsula = Hispania, of the Roman Empire
That's a new one. 😄 He really has transcended ordinary thought with this Tartarian download. 🤪
Oh no, is Dan gonna deal with some mud-flood nonsense soon?
@@kyleepratt I don't know but I sure hope so! 😅 I was intuiting said weirdness from the guy's "history is fake" vibe. 😵💫
You know it’s bad when even Dan McClean has to debunk this nonsense😭
Did this dude just say that Italy is part of the Iberian Peninsula?
Dan “everything is antisemitism” McClellan .
Adam Sandler is a Kabballist? I was this minute days old.
I've never been to Spain, but I kinda like the music
He just put Italy into the Iberian Peninsula?
Well, let's see, the content creator had nice white teeth. Otherwise, he was a kook!
Since when is Italy part of the Iberian Peninsula?
What?! This guy's arguments don't make any sense.
Great, as usual. One detail struck me. Dan pronounces the word Ibri like a French speaker. Listen: this has nothing to do with the conspiracy exposed by the author of the criticized video. It's just a funny coincidence.
IIRC Dan knows French, but not as fluently as English or Spanish.
Dude's voice is the worst part.
This guy screams cult leader
No, he was from Atlantis.
The land of YURR made me cringe
Hey Dan, two questions. First, why is it that so many of the creators you respond to have really odd music in their soundtracks? Is that a thing in the fundy world? Second, is there a searchable database of your videos that can be used to find your videos on specific topics and/or texts?
I feel like it's always this track too: ruclips.net/video/AKM9tb1ur5Q/видео.html I hear it now and immediately think I'm in for a wild, completely fabricated ride.
Spain...you know... in Italy.
The hubris of ignorance
Let me guess: The dude is going to try to make us believe that Abraham was... Iberian.
I told you.
Omfg holy Fking shit
Un fucking believable
Abraham existed?
Not from Canaan
From Canada
Italy is definitely part of the Iberian peninsula, but so is Antarctica... Could this have something to do with the ICE WALL? I'm just asking questions.
apart from everything else, Italy isn’t part of the Iberian peninsula. It’s like saying that Mexico is part of Florida. Literally, they’re about as far away from eachother
And he's also wrong about Iberia - There were 2 places known as Iberia. There were the lands associated with the river valley of the Ebro in Spain, the other was on the borders of Colchis near the Black Sea
Iberians were also an ancient peoples in the Caucauses, around like Georgia, sometimes there are just words that sounds like other words, from all over.
Also, did dude say Italy was in Iberia with Spain and Portugal?
God bless for the patience to deal with these insane theories Dan!
OMG no knows the Spanish Iberians IS the same name but no the same thing is a historiacal and autóctonous Pre-Roman civilization in Spain a great part of DNA of actual Spaniards is Iberian in fact this advancef civilization fight hardly agaisnt Romans two centuries ; with heroical cities with Numancia in Spain or Lusitanian Viriatus in Portugal this civilization for exemple made swords " The Falcata" better than Román gladio in fact the Romans optimized gladio in base to falcata and Hannibal Barca fight in Spain with Iberian falcata's and sculpture of Lady of Elche amomg many other exemples ;the Iberians name for people and Peninsula is for the Iberum River ( today Ebro River) the most abundant river in Iberian Peninsula; regards
Dan, is there a good more modern concordance that you recommend?
