Great recording, thank you for uploading! I'd personally would date the recording as 1962 On 17:38 there is a poster for "The Apartment" "La Garçonnière", a film that was released in Japan in late 1960, and then a poster for "Tales of Paris" ("Les Parisiennes") released on 1962 On 14:22 there also a mention of upcoming Olympics, Tokyo was chosen as a host city on May 26th 1959 There's also other locations featured outside Tokyo On 6:07 there's what seems like Tsurugaoka Hachimangū in Kamakura, and on 6:10 it's a Giant Buddha at Kōtoku-in in Kamakura On 19:40 there's the torii of Itsukushima Shrine near Hiroshima, with a few other shots of Itsukushima afterwards
Before the war in Japan, the subway and transportation network had already developed. It will be possible to recover in five years, two years after the big earthquake and tsunami. In the first place, the story of The Last Samurai in the American movie is anachronistic, and it's all crap. In 1570, 300,000 rifles were used in Japan. Not taught by Americans.
People would be bustling around, you would have no means for necessary resources. Without a place to go and without local currency... Goodluck with your time machine!
A male announcer said," Corporal punishment is unknown among children of Japan." It`s not true. Physical punishment was quite common at school in 1960`s and 70`s when I was a Japanese schoolchild. Even today, authoritarian teachers often inflict corporal punishment on their pupils.
@@heliogonzalez2663 I`m envious of Mexican people. I`m impressed that Mexico has been progressing much faster than Japan. No wonder the Japanese economy is stagnant.
@@KennethSee Yes, I feel pretty much in the same way. In particular, I`m a Japanese and I saw the same Japanese typewriter in my office when I was a new employee. My boss told me that the Japanese typewriter was more expensive than my monthly salary.
My grandfather was stationed in Japan during the Korean War in the 50s. He never saw combat but he did say he got into a bar fight with a local. Then again he also never told us how it went to so he presumably lost lol
The outbreak of the Korean War was a pump priming for Japan`s economic recovery. But South Korea was also benefitted from the Vietnam War, and a lot of Vietnamese women were raped by the South Korean soldiers. Many children who were born between South Korean Marines and Vietnamese women were abandoned by their Korean fathers. They are called Lai Dan Han.

The yellow trams did not appear until late 50s
1950s ?・・ 東京タワー建ってるし? たしか?東京タワー竣工は1958年頃だったと思うけど?
I was almost 20 mins in thinking "For a 1950's american video, there is surprisingly few racist comments" Then he said "Slant eye'd girls" xD
Right from the start, there are tons of racist comments...
@SlypherSpoons lol

What about slant eyed whites, is that racist?
3:04 -"Less then 20 years after WWII" - It didn't looked like 50s - a few years after loosing the war - and It's not the 50s

Judging from designs of automobiles and Tokyo Tower (which was constructed in 1958.), this movie was shot not in 1950`s but in 1960`s.
Yeah, i feel that too.. Its really 1950??

Video taken in the early 1960s. The title is wrong.
In America, the strange fruits that hung from the trees were people
Amazing video, country and city
"slant eye show girl"
That typewriter was wild!
+Kenneth See Operators were required to have great skill in using Japanese typerwiters, but they are a thing of the past now.

73 years after this video was made I got to climb Mt.Fuji.

Great footage.
Go, Go, GODZILLA ‼️🇯🇵
We need a version without commentary
It clearly states 20 years since ww2 that would be ca. 1965. For reference that would be like 9/11 footage being described as ca. 2016
Thank you! Ron PTL USA
1964.
During this period, the Korean War broke out and Japan suddenly made a lot of money. Sell the weapon
