Your A/C addition is a great Idea. After all you have done to the plane so far it makes sense to keep that airframe. the Electric A/C is the same set up used on most of the factory A/c units at Air Tractor. It is a fantastic set up and less weight than the engine driven units! Thanks for the Videos.

Love your videos Chris. It's always a good day when I see your video pop up in my feed. I'm just an old fool flying my flight sim nowadays and usually flying the Baron G58 with the Garmin G1000 NXI. Sure love this set up. I wish I could have flown them in real life. The sim just recently offered the Mustang and I had to give it a try. Nice enough plane if you like jets I suppose. It won't take the place of the Baron for me though. I've got about a thousand hours in the Baron on the sim, but I get to fly everyday and usually have six or more hours a day. Stuck in a wheelchair now so it sure helps pass the time and keeps me out of the wife's kill zone. Thank your for all of the great videos sir. I know you'll be happy with the A/C.

Flew aircraft on the (Portuguese Air Force), but never made a carrear out of it. But I've been infected with the (flying) bug and couldn't get away. Never tried the new MSFS . Still flying the "old" FSX-STEAM.

@@thunderbolt513 I think I've flown every version of Microsoft Flight Sim if memory is correct. I learned to fly before I learned to drive and then soloed on my 16th birthday. I went the next day to get my physical only to find out I was color blind and wouldn't be able to get a commercial ticket. I was totally crushed by that. All I wanted to do since I was in first grade was to fly crop dusters. I had a neighbor that did that and was restoring an old Steerman for crop dusting. I used to go there every day to watch him work on it. I spent a lot of time there wearing that poor man out with questions.

@@robertbrown9827 I'm using the Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo units along with Air Manager using two monitors for a Baron instrument panel with a pair of Garmin G1000 NXI's. I use SPADneXt for the Alpha and Bravo units. I've got a set of G-29 pedals for racing that you can set up as rudder pedals. It's not the best thing for rudder pedals but it'll do until I can save enough to buy some decent rudder pedals. I have the sim going to a 55" 4K tv and the two monitors for AM are mounted in an instrument panel I made. One of them is touch screen and the other is just a plain monitor waiting on another touch screen. Living on disability doesn't pay enough to get things as quickly as I wish I could. LOL I'm trying to save for rudder pedals, more RAM for the computer, another touch screen monitor and eventually I want to get three 43" monitors to run the sim on so I can have surround vision. When I do finally get it all I'll have to run the sim on my good computer and the Air Manager and the three monitors for it on my old computer. I know, champagne taste on a beer budget type of thing, but you gotta dream.

SWEEET, Kris! Glad to hear you're pulling the trigger on an A/C system! You're going to love it. Kim especially! 😁
I'll never forget when I was in my mid 20's and had just moved to Phoenix from MA - at that point, I had never had a working A/C in any car I had owned. Wasn't worth the expense to repair up in MA. Well, in Phoenix it was!!😂 My '86 Grand Marquis got stolen there, so I bought a nice '72 El Camino that happened to have a nice, simple, aftermarket under-dash AMA system. Was very cheap to repair. This was long before I owned the equipment to charge the system myself. Fixed it up in my apartment complex parking lot & brought it to a shop to vacuum and recharge. MAN was that NICE!! Thing was blowing high 40° vent temps when it was over 100° outside! I was loving life!! What a dramatic change that was! Haven't been without A/C since, lol.

Defiantly made a good choice going behind that system, you just never know when it may just blow up into something more severe, and then your stuck scrambling to get out of it. I love my onboard radar. ADSB has its advantages ( getting the big overall picture of the weather) and the onboard real time radar tells you what's really there. The way I use then both is to do a.... What is, what was, and what it will be... decision maker. Depending on the turbulence I would've went higher to get in the actual IMC to keep practicing flying in it, but that's just me. I would hand fly the majority of it then switched on the AP for a break once in a while. Currency keeps you legal while profeciency keeps you alive. Thats 2 things I can't wait to get back to working on since myself(broke leg and ankle) and my plane( planned interior upgrade and some TLC maintaince) have been grounded for a few months and still going. How has your century 3 been working? Mine has been giving me issues lately so now i have to take it back to the shop. It seems as though I get a couple flights out of then something else on it started acting up.

Does the ac have a hookup for precooling?

    • @BaronPilot

Actually it does. In fact the linemen can connect the power and turn on the AC to pre-cool from outside the airplane.

Love your videos , but I have to say , was not a fan of your pattern entry after you canceled. Right Base to 5 mile final ? Multiple aircraft in the pattern. I would have opted to enter Upwind for 5 so the guy on downwind could land. But that’s just me. You’re a lot faster then my little Cherokee, but definitely not the recommended entry into a Non Towered airport.

Have a 74 b 55 and love my Kelly ac. Big plus that it automatically comes on when gpu gets plugged in. Called signature a hr prior down in key west and they hooked it up and didn’t have to get in my airplane at all. It was 75 when we got there!

Were you thinking about a different plane?
I guess a Lancair IV-P is a way to go. Vision jet speed, flies above weather. Or simply a Lancair 320 and a couple of immersion suits. iphones actually have sat com these days.
Or for real efficiency and low running cost, one of the faster LSAs. If they have IFR instruments. Might be 5-10x cheaper to fly than the Baron. No small difference really.

@@BaronPilot I understand :) is she a costly girl at annuals? and are the engines anywhere close to TBO? I assume overhaul is crippling cost.

For Florida in the summer, A/C is probably a real need. Fifty pounds isn't that much of a weight penalty, though, considering you don't fly with four people in the airplane. Even if you did, it's only what 40 minutes worth of fuel?
Of course, we're all wondering about Kim and what her status is. I was hoping to hear something on that. On the other hand, I'm happy to see anything coming from 'Baron Pilot', so thanks for that, Kristopher. 😁😛😋
