Renovate with me in Italy! The story of how we found our Italian home

In 2018, my husband and I road-tripped across Europe in a £700 MG TF convertible (which broke down after three days) and then a £250 Nissan Micra, which got us through the rest of the trip. During our travels, we fell in love with Lago d’Iseo, Italy-a glacial lake surrounded by breathtaking scenery.
We spent five days there, dreaming of owning a home nearby. The first property we saw was a €39,000 pigshed, but it wasn’t the right fit. On a later visit, we found a €25,000 two-bedroom house that needed major renovations but was full of vintage treasures, including furniture, porcelain dolls, swords, and a Singer sewing machine. The attic had significant water damage, but the charm and potential won us over.
Now, we’re preparing to renovate and restore the house, keeping as much of its character as possible while making it our own. Follow along as we transform our dream into reality!
