    This EMT simulator/game for the arcades looks like fun! It reminds me of "Matchbox: Emergency Patrol" and the ambulance undercover missions in Paris in "Midtown Madness 3." I never played this arcade game, and I wish they released it for the PC and some video game consoles, like the Sega Dreamcast, Sony PlayStation 2 and the Nintendo GameCube (just like another SEGA arcade game called "18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker," which I used to play at Chuck E. Cheese's many years ago, but sadly, it was never released for the PC, so I have the North American NTSC PlayStation 2 version instead). Great job on this walkthrough!

      Johnny Cage Well it is different from the first one... But I have to say the physics are a bit questionable. At least from what I played. It requires to use the break more than quickly switching the gears from 4,1,4 - 3,1,3 while managing your trottle control.

      I noticed how fantastic the players were, one of the worse things in a game play review to me is a unskilled player getting around in a game, some cases it can be painful to watch, in all game play videos it must have a nice to fantastic playing experience, to enrich the video, and I gotta say this game looks a lot more interesting from your video than others I saw.

    Damn why did sega stop man. The last good arcade game they had with a story was The house of the dead and overkill was different from the originals. But games like these is what made arcades fun. I remember this one, the firefighters, and The house of the dead would be the ones I'd drain my quarters on as a kid. Now with all this new technology and advancement they seem to have stopped caring. I though The House Of The Dead wasn't dead yet according to leaks of a sequel, but that was 5 years ago. Sadly gone but good times.

    • @uncletom1971
      @uncletom1971  7 лет назад +1

      HOTD is not dead, it will never be as long as people like you and me remember it and continue to celebrate it. RUclips is full of it so I am certain that the old SEGA classics will live forever, at least through other games they set the standard for. The hardware may die, but the software lives on, now more than ever by emulation and spreading from generation to generation. However the arcade, as we know it, sadly is dead.

    i had fun playing this game in distant past, but not made into final one.
    its arcade level of cheesy, and its fun to watch.
    i cant really imagine, a mafia used rpg inside parking lot basement and police react, "wow" when the rpg shot infront of his face. random, crashed, and exploding vehicle all over the streets, not to mention lightning strike that destroy army vehicles., plane crashing in horrible degree but totally okay and no.big splash and explosion (consider the sea looks not deep at all). and lastly, they all survived from said accidents (tho, miracle exist). iknow i shouldnt point these pointless things, but thats what makes me remember the game.

    • @NeoRocket64

      i'm surprised that this game was made in 1999, where other arcades beside model 3 were nothing on technical hardware. sega (or am department) made a quite surprising piece of technology back in the day. of course, in these days, those great graphics are not a great thing, but looking at the past 90's, it was AMAZING as they actually tried their best to make great hardware that surpass home console itself. how on earth they managed to do that?
      is a shame, really. sega now don't do much on arcade, or all of gaming industry actually more focused on VR, or just a home console and pc. need more something like racing games, light gun, and motion for arcade. it's better to experience more realistic on arcade then buy those driving controls or light gun for consoles or even worse using just a controller.
      well, i hope i can experience the thrill of playing arcade games, because in my country, in my places, 60% of arcade games that i played are working almost prefectly, while the others... you know, lack of working some hardwares and sometimes even completely unplayable normally. and not much of arcade games (besides wangan midnit, pump it up, mai mai, new games, and some games that used cards as core of gameplay (animal kaiser and some others)), but on the other hand, i found old arcade games that worked perfectly, like virtua fighter on super megalo 2.
      if i can, i'll try to find more arcade places. altho, it will be quite a difficult task...
      oh yea, btw, i like your game analysis page about this game. seems like some people do care about arcade games.

    • @uncletom1971
      @uncletom1971  7 лет назад +1

      The Model 3 hardware was the most expensive hardware in the arcades at the time. A CGI company, Martin Marietta, bought SEGA at one time in the 90's and they developed 3D hardware with some impressive texturing. Also remember that this was at the beginning of 3D accelerators / 3D-chips for PC at the time, SEGA always utilized the latest microprocessor technology and this was no exception.
      What is your country?

    Yo he jugado bastantes veces con éste simulador de ambulancias, pero al mismo tiempo me da un poco de nostalgia, pues también he estado en ocasiones como pasajero en las ambulancias, camino al hospital. Una de las tantas veces en que he estado a bordo de una ambulancia y camino a un centro médico asistencial fue el día sábado 15/12/2001, cuando apenas tenía dieciséis años de edad. Íbamos mi novia de esa época, Alicia Ortiz, y yo, con el carro de su mamá, una camioneta Toyota Land Cruiser Burbuja VX 4500 de color azul marino, a casa de mi amigo Alberto Martínez, que vivía en la urbanización Colinas de Bello Monte, en una lujosa residencia ubicada en la calle Casiquiare, porque era su fiesta de cumpleaños, y de repente sufrimos un terrible accidente de tránsito en el cruce de la avenida Caurimare, cuando un camión Ford 350 de color blanco nos chocó de costado y ambos, mi novia y yo, resultamos heridos porque nos golpeamos la cabeza. Al momento de producirse el accidente comenzó a llover intensamente y el conductor de aquél camión se asomó para ver si todavía estábamos vivos, y algunos vecinos de la urbanización de Colinas de Bello Monte se acercaron cautelosos. Al instante se escucharon sirenas de ambulancias y vehículos policiales, en medio de un pertinaz aguacero que caía sobre Caracas.

      +Richard Whitfield Yes, I agree. This game is far too good to be left for pleasant memories only. It is emulated though I think on the Supermodel3 emulator. But there's no official release by SEGA other than the original model3 hardware. Funny thing about this game is that we kind of know it was made by AM1 with Rikya Nakagawa as head of staff back in the days, but there's no credits or any information about who was involved. There are no end credits text other than "Thank you for playing - SEGA", which I find very, very strange. Someone in Japan should find Mr Nakagawa and make an interview.

    I've thought a lot about this game lately.
    I've thought about what cases would be interesting, what new routes would look like, music, etc. My dream is to help create a remastered version of this game. I've loved this game since I was 10 years old. I would add 4 cases to the game -- excluding bonus tracks. I was thinking there should be bonus tracks in more rural areas, where different types of disasters can occur.

    • @uncletom1971
      @uncletom1971  2 года назад +1

      Good idea. But why not just make this game like Crazy Taxi then, with lots of various "cases" on different routes, that vary in difficulty depending on your score and skill. You could play the complete map of Chicago, these days memory is not a problem, the map could be very large. Also you could select one of several vehicles differenty equipped and sized for various driving modes. Basically a mission-based driving game, like Crazy Taxi that started it all, but here in a emergency vehicle theme.

    • @dangerpowers4582
      @dangerpowers4582 2 года назад

      @@uncletom1971 If I were to have it my way, I would add "save points" so you would not have to start at the first case.
      The longer maps would also be a good idea, they could range from 90 seconds to 2 minutes. Some of the cases I think would be cool would be: Construction Accident(Inspired by the Spiderman 3 scene with the crane), Suicidal Jumper, Terrorist Attack, Bank Robbery. If I can help make this happen I would be elated.
      I had one idea where you have to drive through a bunch of alleyways and also a graveyard -- to make it a bit dark. I lived near Chicago, so I have a lot of ideas for maps and routes. Different hospitals would also be cool.

    I love this game! I only discovered it a couple years ago on the Model 3 emulator. This would have made an excellent Dreamcast game if they added more missions. Great job on the last mission! I have played this game many many times and while I've beaten the final stage several times it still gives me trouble. There is no room for even 1 mistake. When I first played this I used Automatic Transmission. Correct me if I'm wrong but the last level seems impossible to complete with Automatic due to the lower top speed.

    • @uncletom1971
      @uncletom1971  5 лет назад +1

      Well, as you say there's not room for one misstake. I've completed the game driving manual and auto. Then again I've had this game 20 years, must have played it at least several hundreds of times. On easy setting it still takes alot of practice to complete Case#4, with a 0, 1 or 2 "health" left on the counter.

    • @HerecomestheCalavera
      @HerecomestheCalavera 5 лет назад

      @@uncletom1971 I've probably played it at least 100 times since I found out it was able to be emulated. I was really really into it when I first starting playing it. I'm pretty good at it now but the one thing I always have a problem with is jumping the bridge. I see in your video you slow down so you don't actually ramp. Sometimes I can hit the bridge full speed and land without losing any health or speed. Most times though it takes a small amount of health and kills the speed quite a bit. There has to be some trick to being able to land right but I haven't figured it out.

    • @uncletom1971
      @uncletom1971  5 лет назад

      Actually that is the thing, you need to go slower on some sections or your patient will get punished. Remember those bonuses at the end of each case? They're only awarded for implementing each aspect of skilled driving to a 100%. So even if your patient doesn't lose any health, or your ambulance doesn't lose speed, if you still land hard enough after a jump to make the patient monitor go red for a split second, you won't get the 'Stable' bonus. Even if you get the 'Brave' bonus.

    • @uncletom1971
      @uncletom1971  5 лет назад

      Yes, that would certainly make a good addition to the gameplay. Even better if the "cases"/missions appeared on a random position in the map/world letting AI decide case type and difficulty according to the player's skill. Also I'd like there to be variable missions presenting several different incidents, at least 10-15 types. Still, I love this game though it is simple, I dare not hope for a similar game to come in the near future. SEGA did games back when everybody was pioneering the technology, the games made then were one of its kind in that state of art. Sadly these days as technology no longer is a limit, intellect has declined - who wants to drive an ambulance when you can save the world with guns and superpowers.

    This looks fun, but the theme is just kinda disturbing, the fact that you see the patient in the top right constantly. I'd definably prefer Crazy Taxi over this.

    • @uncletom1971
      @uncletom1971  10 лет назад +1

      Well the point of monitoring the patient, and his/hers heart rate, constantly is to give you a measure of how you drive. Take a curve too steep / fast and you'll see the patients agony. Drive in a controlled yet smooth pace and recieve bonuses.

    • @uncletom1971
      @uncletom1971  10 лет назад +1

      About Crazy Taxi, it is a completely different game regardless of how similar the scenery looks to ECA. I've ofter heard people refer to the looks as "Crazy Taxi like", but the fact is there's not simpler way of defining buildings and city environments using 3D graphics. SEGA did a very good job with this simplistic yet perfectly sufficient modelling style.
      In Crazy Taxi you pick up customers to drive them to a certain spot on the large map. In ECA you get four linear missions of driving the patient to hospital through an obstacle course of varying difficulty. Yes there are shortcuts and fun stuff along the way to discover, but the game is linear. And the difference in driving techniques are also very different. So even though these games look the same, never ever confuse or compare them.
