DCS World 2.5: First Dogfights with the 109

- For my first fight in DCS 2.5, I decided to get the 109 and hunt some Mustangs.
Like usual, a lot of people fly low without a lot of energy just waiting to die, but in this sortie, I surprisingly found more than the usual amount of players above 2Km altitude...
Enjoy!

I'd call that an excellent sortie, beautiful flying!
Thank you very much!
Nice flying...really liked your subtitles! :-) Submitted!
The 3rd Mustang (3:35) was Me (PFT_Orph3us). My pilot was killed by other 109. GF&Salute !!!
Indeed, good fight and nice maneuvering!
i always shoot down those who steal my kills. im surprised you let that guy take it lmao. loved the video, great work!
8:31 Yes, yes you did.
Good work!
**Still waiting for that remodeled P51 which we will likely never get**
And I'm still waiting for our Rüstsätze which we will never get.
Nice dogfights Razor :)
Thanks Rosso :D
Nice flying DCS 2.5 Looks great
Thank you very much!
Il2 BoS looks even better imo :)
It is just me or tracers look more..... brighter?
They indeed look brighter. In 2.2, at least I was barely able to see them, but now in 2.5, I can finally hit again.
GG !
Incredible flying.
Thank you very much!
Moar Trim!.... No... Moar Cowbell!!!!!
Very nice
Intense! 10/10.
Man everyone immediately goes into a turning battle like it's not going to end badly for themselves, like do they know that they have a rudder, flaps, and alot more they can do with that control column?
nice flying!
Thanks!
Nice hunting!!!!!
Thank you very much!
Nice watchinyou dogfighting. Like the subs !
Thanks!
Nicceeeeee
Thank you very much!
If only I had a joystick and a half decent computer...I'm just a WT pleb for now, too broke for this. great flying!
Don't know how broke you are, but you can pick up a Thrustmaster Hotas X or Logitech 3D Pro fairly cheaply. DCS World also has two free planes, the trainer variant of the Mustang and a fully combat capable (but no clickable cockpit) Su-25T.
Lack of headtracking is not ideal but you can get around that with hat switches or mouse/keyboard usage.
It does require a somewhat better rig than WT though, so if you play on a potato then you're out of luck.
Even then, WT sim battles can be good fun even with a cheap 'stick, but then I'd rather go for one of the earlier IL-2 titles (which are awesome with mods).
Broke as in $0 broke. My friend has an xbox controller but idk if he'll agree to lend me that.
and yeah, my laptop is a complete potato. I've played Il2 1946, great game considering it's age, but again no joystick :/
Oh, and SB? I've played that too, p fun but you are at somewhat of a disadvantage with mousejoy.
Ouch. I can relate to that.
The controller could sort of substitute for the 'stick so it's worth asking.
And yeah, the mousejoy is a bit clunky for dogfights but on the flipside it trivializes landing and taking off. Oh well.
Hang in there, mate.
beautiful skills... great dogfight, Mr experten... ;-)
Thank you very much!
Nice Flying !
Thanks!
Excellent flying. What pisses me off is that last mustang pilot. Got the drop and just got overconfident and then flies in a straight line with the better plane... Ugh.
Very nice! I bought all DCS WW2 stuff a couple of weeks ago but find it very difficult to fly. Any tips?
Thanks!
As for the tipps:
Maybe try flying the 109 first. It has an automatic governor, good cooling system and does not drop a wing like the other ones. It is really forgiving mistakes, so I'd say that one is a good point to start. Before you try a landing (you can try, but here's a tipp) you should transition over to the P-51 or FW-190. They are similar in flight performance and have both a wide landing gear, which makes the landing easier. The P-51 also has a tailwheel steering, which makes taxing a lot easier. In the 109 and 190, you can only lock your tailwheel. If I were you, I'd start learning the Spitfire after you mastered the 109. The Spitfire is more prone to overheating the engine, you can easily stall and the gear is narrow. In addition, you can't lock the tailwheel.
You can also join our discord, maybe we'll find some time to fly together.
Nice!
You use a VR? or TrackIR ?
What is your pc spec?
What is your settings?
What device for flying you use?
How long you flight?
Everything is in the description
we need 150 octane fuel for p-51 and upper inHg manifold pressure limit in dcs
i like dcs for its jets... but the props feel like they are flying on rails :/
good video tho nice kills :)
That is the very first time I hear that in a such a long time. Are you sure you fly them in the Sim mode?
I personally have not that feeling, not at all. If you don't handle them well, they can wobble all aroumd, something that isn't possible with a SFM (the flight model which is like rails).
Or you just have the perfect compensation skill so you never make a mistake in flying, rudder always perfect etc...
Is it just me or is the 109 WAY easier to fly now (in 2.5) especially take off?
No idea, but that reminds me of the same with with the D9. When 2.2 came out, a lot of pilots reported a change in the behaviour. One would have to test though if it is the case with the 109.
I did a couple of take offs this morning with Focke Wulf. It seemed easier than ever before (no weird banking to the left when taking off, it was smooth as butter)
So what do you think of the 109?
And as I am not all that familiar with DCS (yet), how historically accurate are the planes modelled in terms of performance and looks?
I've heard only good things so far.
I have no idea about the performance and all this stuff from real life planes, neither have I flown a 109. So only thing I can say is: Believe in what the developers are doing. They did the research so they should know how it is.
How often does your engine noise give you away (or save you)?
I've noticed its much, much easier to hear them in DCS than it is in Il-2 BoX
As long as you are not in idle, the noise will always give you away or save you, unless you have some weird sound settings...
In IL-2, if you hear something from other planes, then it's the gunfire.
Yup
To me it seems wrong
It would be incredibly hard to hear another engine over your own
they're working on it ok! =)
you wouldnt hear an enemy's engine over the wind/air let alone hearing your own engine. when you get up to those speeds just the wind alone causes hearing damage. none the less DCS is a work in progress and so far its an amazing simulator. im sure if it specialized in a specific era with fewer planes like Il2 does it would be just as accurate and graphically similar, but DCS and the community would rather new content and planes over more accurate sounds and little things.
That dude stealing your kill though...irritating.
If he's happy with it, I don't mind if I have one kill less on my statistics, about which I don't really care :P
Razor I’m just sick of the shoulder shooting, midair causing, stat chasing dudes. It’s like someone dipping their spoon in my cereal bowl. 😂
dipping their spoon on your cereal bowl... i found enlightment on a whole different level of nastiness....
How much fps is your average when doing fights like this?
Usually 60 if not too many players are present.
Okay thanks for answering so quick
where do i down load this? looks awesome!
Google DCS World.
*Which Joystick do you have/had in this Video?*
X52 Pro
So like me you noticed how much more often Mustang engine gives up as soon as a bullet goes nearby? Seems like they are affected by 190 disease
Maybe
ED can't start fixing bugs too soon...
It was like that irl too, the RR Merlin wasn't designed to hold damage at all.
watching ppl trying to turn fight in a mustang hurts my eyes
Mistakes were made...
Same happens to me when I see people turnfighting a Spitfire.
you did mistake never shut off piston engine plane with magnetos
use throttle cut off or another thing meant for this like mixture idle cut off you go yellow lever behind throttle in bf-109
doing it by magnetos switch you are overflowing engine with fuel may cause leaks in to oil system or may cause fire when fuel will exit engine through exhaust pipes
very nice picture . please let me yr rig spec . thanks
It's in the description
This game looks fun, but when I downloaded it on steam, it wouldn't work for some reason.
Maybe you should go on the forums. They can help you more than I can.
I have nothing but contempt for kill stealers. I will not avoid shooting them down if they get in front of my guns. That person must have been a reject from War Thunder where kill stealing by lazy good for nothings killers is a rampant disease. And I have no problem with paying the penalty for blowing them out of the sky. Kill stealers disgust me.
graphics look cartoony. Reminds me of war thunder. big disappointment.
