    This weekend was my first time skiing. I've paid for lessons. I can't believe I have not been taught even the half of these skills. This video was really helpful. Thank you!

    Second comment is that when on chairlift always ask for or say bar down before just pulling it down on someone’s head, can’t tell you how many times I’ve been hit in the back of my helmet because of this lack of courtesy

    Thanks can’t believe ppl pay for lessons for weeks when it’s here on RUclips

    • @Skinewgen
      @Skinewgen  3 года назад +4

      Hi there, although our RUclips videos are a great tool, there's only so much you can learn from a few minutes of watching a video. Time on the slopes with a professional, whether it be a couple of hours or a few weeks, is invaluable. Take a look at the lessons we have on offer, it could be to develop your technique further, learn about mountain safety or challenge yourself off-piste. www.skinewgen.com

    Excellent video, I just have two comments. One is I don’t think new skiers should carry their skis on shoulder as twice I’ve sent people badly injured from someone with skis on their shoulders turn around not paying attention hit another person in the head one of which was knocked out.

      What’s your second comment

    When I was having one of my first lessons, I saw a very small child with a short connector between the tips of her skis, and asked my instructor about it, because it looked like a great idea - I have always been slow on the uptake with learning any new physical skill, and was having some trouble controlling my wedge. "That looks like a good idea, what's that?"
    "It's a tether."
    "It's just what I need! Where can I get one?"
    He looked at me. "You are fifty-three years old. You are not having a tether."
    "So, I suppose a Paw Patrol vest with a leash for you to hold to stop me losing control of my speed is out of the question, then?"
    "Yes."
    I did get there in the end (I'm mostly parallel now, and getting the hang of steering with the edges). But I think I would've progressed more quickly if that terrible spoilsport had let me have a tether...

      Haha - thanks for sharing your story! What a spoilsport indeed! If you ever need an edgie-wedgie (or tether) in the future: edgiewedgie.com/

    Skill 10: wear a helmet

      Yes! Totally agree. Wearing a helmet is so important.

      If you chose not to wear a helmet, clearly there is nothing there to protect.

    Good so far.
    5:00 This should only be used when you are going in a straight line at slow speed like in a lift line if you start sliding. This should NEVER be used to teach turning.

    Good physical condition is important. If you are overweight and in bad shape don't ski.

    • @Skinewgen
      @Skinewgen  2 года назад +3

      Hang on a minute there Nein. Skiing is for everyone, no matter your size or ability. Have you had a bad experience on the slopes? If you're based near the Alps in France, Switzerland or Austria, please email us so we can help turn your experience around. info@skinewgen.com

      @@Skinewgen your video is excellent, but skiing really is not for everyone who is in poor condition; especially given the muscles used in snow plough being amongst the most underused in modern society. Being overweight exaggerates any danger.
