Kendall was very smooth for such a big guard, this is not a comparison but I can see how some people say he moved around like Jordan a bit..I can see it, extremely fluid athlete at that size with ability to finish at the basket with both hands
Gill had the talent to be special but for some reason always took a back seat to other players where ever he went. I think he was unselfish too a fault and never cared about being the best.
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American. I was PUMPED when the Sonics got Kendall Gill, who in 1992 was said to be a "budding Michael Jordan." 1993-94 was one of the BEST years of my life. I have long thought that I'd live to be 48, and pass away in 2021. My Dad Unexpectedly passed away in 2003, and life hasn't been happy for me since. If I'm indeed in the final months of my life, these NBA highlights are among those I will cherish, in the last months of my life. I want my funeral to be music-based: Sports songs, kid songs, Christmas music, Japanese kid music, VG music. NBA On NBC is a song as I want, because it takes me back to 1993-2002, a time when I actually thought that life was worth living.
That brief time when the Hornets had Johnson and Mourning was so promising, its a big shame ego's got involved as Gill came in 96 and that was a young core that could have got some rings if they played together.
Man I remember when the Hornets became a team right after Hurricane Hugo... I was young and it didn't matter how good they were, we had a team with Charlotte on the jersey and that Hornet logo was dope.. The games weren't really that expensive back then and it was always a good vibe in the Coliseum.. Gill was one of our memorable stars
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. My friend in 1993 had a Larry Johnson t-shirt, and those teal colors were AWESOME. The teal was very fitting for an expansion team of that era. I was SO pumped when we got Kendall Gill in Seattle. George Karl messed him over in 1994-95. Hersey Hawkins in hindsight, was SO perfect for the 1995-96 Sonics (another top year of my life). I have these HORNETS jerseys: CHAMBERS 22, HAWKINS 33, CURRY 30, BROKUWSKI 40.
I had to come do some homework here to. I must say the older fans got this one right. I’ve heard of him but after watching this, you would think ant was his clone 👍🏾💯
Got to play in a pickup game with KG at U of I's rec center. The whole Illini team was there, many future NBAer. Me, 6'2", had to guard the 7' German center, Jens Kujawa. I did score though.

Underrated. Incredible athlete. Tremendous defender.

I was so pumped when my Sonics got Kendall Gill in 1993. In 1992, I read that Gill was "a budding Michael Jordan."

Kendall played more like Pippen imho.
@@rapgodreloaded9259 true, talented and more of a team player

My condolences. It’s difficult to go through that. Sometimes these old clips bring back such good memories.
@@jmarcguy Thanks JMarc. Looking at 1993-94 clips, reminds me about how happy life used to be, and I always long for beign happy like that again.
Sorry about your pops RIP. I feel you I often look at old sports clips, wrestling and etc it take me back to a happy time in my life
I hope you're doing better now, man. That's tough to hear. And I agree, music and old sports footage have a way of bringing us back in time.
thanks for sharing this with us. I hope you would get happier.
Any link to the instrumental of this music?

7:10 I was 21 in late 1994. I admit, I used to "fantasize" about that half-Black Sonics cheerleader with the curly hair! She was stunning!
Anthony Edwards is more similar to him than MJ
He played soo similar to Jordan.
I know he didn’t win any championships but Kendall Gil is in my top five favorite players in the NBA. He carried the Nets and made them relevant.
Really? I've only recently heard of him. Who comes out the top 5 for Kendall?
Anthony Edwards moves exactly like Kendall Gill.

Kendall was my No1 back in the 90s
Anthony Edward’s moves just like this dude!! different skill sets of course but mannerisms and movement…wow.

I loved those lefty dunks.

07:43 - i've never seen anyone steal the ball from Mugsey Bogues except Gill.
Dunking with both hands like it's normal
Loved him he was smooth m a good looking cat
彼が日本に来た時のダンクが忘れられない😂
Why did he leave Charlotte the first time, it makes no sense.
I think the only thing that held Kendal Gill back was he was never a #1 option on a team

@@metsrus I agree because he was good on both ends of the court
