I love your video quite informative. Am a bee farmer from kenya. am wondering how do you separate the queens after hurching in terms of the colonies? If you stick 15 cups each bar you will have 45 cups in 3 bars hence 45 colonies.

I like your wax cups. My mentor showed me the same technique except he put the wax cups in a hollowed dowel and then waxed on the bar. I like your way better. It seems that it's quicker and I no longer have to lose those little pieces of wood. Also, now I know why the cups are falling off my bars.
What is the difference between a queen cell and a supersedure cell? Do you handle them differently? Are the queen cells located in a different place than the supersedure cells? I've always understood that the queen cells are near the bottom of the frames. Thanks
Don, I have only saw a couple of your videos because I only have a dial up connection (too slow). I did see that you always say your bees are docile and friendly. What kind are they and how are they on build up to being a strong hive and honey production? I know my aggressive hives produce the most honey and over winter the best, but they are a pain to work with. I live in NC.
Sell them !!! Make up 10, or Two Nucs ! (Here in UK a Nuc will cost you £200 or $300.) Especially as now we cannot get Bees from Europe, because the Law has changed*. (Only Queens*.) 😱
Question for mr don. This was my first year trying grafting. I used plastic jzbz cups. I then placed them in a cell starter and the bees removed the larvae and made their own cells in the wax foundation. Any help with getting them to pull the queen cells on the plastic cups?

A Finisher Hive is a Hive, with a Queen in the bottom Box, with a Queen Excluder (so she cannot get up to 'kill' these other "Queens in their Cells." Another Hive Box on top, with lots of Nurse Bees, and food supplies.... They will finish off the Queen Cells !* * But make sure each cell is protected by a Queen Barrel Cage, or the first 'Queen to hatch' will go and kill all the other Queens before they are born !!! 😱

Watching your videos I finally understood how to make more queens but I still lack the knowledge on how to multiply the hives. I mean now that I have made queens what is next?. You take some frames of bees (especially the non flying Nurse Bees )from your Hive, (AND no Queen !) It's called a Walk Away Split !These Bees are put into a Nuc Box, 24hrs before, you add Any Queen Cell ! They need to feel Queenless ! Or they will not accept your soon to hatch Queen (Cell) that you put in between to middle frames. Leave it and them for at least 3 weeks, to see if she hatched, flew out to get mated, came back and started laying good brood.... If you see eggs, capped Brood it's Yes ! If not, you need to get a Queen to add, or you add the Split back onto a Hive (rejoin them.) ASAP 🐝

Royal Jelly is thick and white in consistency... Some add a dot more of Royal Jelly in the bottom of a Cup, to help stick the 'grafted egg' in the chosen cell ! (But by grafting, you lift a bit of RJ with the egg anyway ! )👍
Some of their own Queen Cells may be good natured, and have good qualities ! BUT, if they are mean, angry, Swarm lots, or don't make lots of Honey.... You NEED to make your OWN Queen Cells ! .... Gets hatched eggs from a Nice Queen, add them to a Builder/Finisher Hive. Wait until they hatch. AND add this Good Queen 👑 to your mean hive (take out or kill cranky Queen.) You will have created good Queens artificially but let them (nature) do the raising of them !!! 👍

thats a great video i am new to this so my question is once you raise 10 or 20 queens what do you do with all of them.

Serious question, but i feel stupid for asking. What keeps the larva from falling out of the cup when you flip it over? Do you seal it or the bees?
The larvae stay in on their own once they are placed in.
What size dowl do you use for your cup jig?
I use 3/8 dowel rod and I dip 8 at a time

why does most beekeepers put the cells straight down, as the bees built them on the side as well :)
If you scratch the surface of the wood a little, the wax adheres more securely.
they don't need to stick that good we need to remove to install the queen cells in a nuc
