Hello Sue, Pete Thomas sent me here. Please accept my condolences on your loss. 🙏🏻 The recipe looks extra scrummy, by the way! 😋 👍🏻 Oh yes, I almost forgot! 😱 Subscribed and Bell Icon clicked for *"All!"* 😱
OH my goodness Sue this is absoluely sensational in so many ways....The inspiration from Pete, The dish itself, the presentation at the end with the fries, the editing, your voiceover....ALL perfect I couldn't be happier right now and I'n MOSDEF gonna make this delicious looking Flemish Stew😋!!!!!!!!
Thank you Patrick, If you do try it use vegemite, (we call it marmite) not malt extract. I don't know what I was thinking when I said that. I have corrected it in the ingredients written down. Your comments have lifted my spirits.
Thanks for the mention and the link Sue, much appreciated. I'm so glad the video evoked fond memories of your travels with Roger. This is a fabulous recipe I just have to try. Shared 😋 I will use your brilliant bread idea in my forthcoming Slow Cooker Savoury Mince video on Sunday, to reciprocate your kindness.
Thanks Pete, I wouldn't have been reminded of this recipe without your reminder so it was a pleasure giving you a mention. If you do make it don't use malt extract ! it was marmite - I had a mental block. I look forward to seeing if the bread works with your dish on Sunday
We're all in with the cranberry sauce over here. Very ingenious use of the bread and mustard, I liked that! Pete sent me over here, glad I came. Thanks for sharing. Your recipe reminds me of my Carbonnade Du Boef.
Thanks for dropping by and I'm glad you liked the recipe. I watched your Carbonnade Du boeuf recipe and yes very similar. Just named differently in different parts of Northern Europe. The Dutch call it Stoofvlees but the principles are the same. I have subscribed to your channel. You have a lot of content. Well done
Thanks so much for this wonderful idea. I can't wait to try this having never cooked with dark ale - except for Guinness. I would never have thought to use bread to thicken the dish. So glad to see your channel is doing well. All the very best.
@@thegourmetgrandadandfamily I know how you could be feeling. I lost my husband 22 years ago and it still hurts, but I know he has no more pain and that's what's most important. SIP Roger!!
@@thegourmetgrandadandfamily Ooops & thanks for pointing that out. Just more proof of getting older and reminding me not to count 100% on my memory when I'm learning a new recipe. I better rewatch. I for whatever reason thought it was butter bread. I am gonna try it though and will let ya know. My guess is it'll be great.👍🏼
This looks amazing those fries look perfect!!!!!!! thank you for sharing this recipe ❤️
Thank you, we all enjoyed this dish

Thank you, it was inspired from trips to Belgium and a great winter meal
@@thegourmetgrandadandfamily Just came home from Antwerp and had to try the recipe. It's delicious.

It's so tempting and delicious
Please give it a try. Thanks for your comment
Great style and narrative 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
Thank you, I'm developing the family style
Looks good. I have made an Irish pot roast with beer before slow cooked in the oven and it was so good.
Thank you, I think beer or wine give a pot roast another dimension of richness and flavour
