Not mine, credit goes to ‘Country Music’ documentary by Ken Burns. Apparently Bob and Johnny were both late to prior commitments because of this moment at the piano.
Boyd Holbrook did a great job in playing Johnny Cash in A Complete Unknown - knocked it out the park now that I see this. I know Joaquin Phoenix was considered yet agree with the Director's decision that he would have been too old. A great film and love JC!
@ Fair comment but for me personally I really did enjoy the film and I watched it two days in succession Like you I’m very much of a fan of Dylan saw him live three times lm 81 years old and have been a admirer of his music from the beginning of his career Nice to hear from you and my very best wishes ☮️☮️🕊️ 🕊️🕊️🕊️🎸🎸
Heard 'I Walk The Line' the same week I'd been discovering Edgard Allan Poe, Cash's voice sounded as if was coming off the pages of Poe. Indelible experience. Later in life got to see Cash five times in concert, twice from front rows.
This would have made for a great short scene in A Complete Unknown, just the two of them singing I Still Miss Someone at a piano. Johnny missing June, missing his brother. Bob missing Suze, or Joan or God knows who ha. Magic.
ken burns is the man! I loved every documentary show that I've seen from him. Strongly recommend his Hemmingway and the Roosevelts docu series. And although I've never seen it, his Vietnam War series seems epic.
@@gwynnielsen5081 Johnny Cash’s son said the first time his dad and Bob met, Bob was so excited he was jumping up and down in Johnny’s hotel room bed 🤣
Neither were they. Saw Dylan once, back in 1975, with The Band. Hofheinz Pavilion on the University of Houston campus. Great show, about 15 rows back. Classic. Never got to see Cash live. Wish I had, but like his song: Guess Things Happen That Way...
I don’t think Bob knew the song better. Johnny was probably under an influence or two. His heavy drinking and drug use during these years are well known.
I agree. Don Reid and the other Statler Brothers were part of Cash's road show for 8 1/2 years. Don once said Johnny knew the words by heart to more songs than Don had ever heard!
@@MarkMiller-i8q Wait! I was wrong, and have been for over 55 years. Joan Baez recorded the song on one of her albums back in the 60's, and the liner notes (and the vinyl disc itself) attributed it to Hank Williams. And it does have that mournful Hank aura to it, so I assumed that the attribution was correct. Because 2 other posts attributed it to Cash, I finally fact-checked myself and the data on that ancient album, and deleted my misinformation. Johnny and Roy Cash co-wrote the song, and a beautiful work of art it is. Please accept my sincere apology.
Don’t know why anyone would make a movie today, where you hire somebody to pretend to be Bob Dylan, and write a fictional script of what you in 2024 think Dylan (Zimmerman) should have said in the 1960s, when so much film footage of the real thing already exists…
Real fans know his story inside out, I'll go to the uk opening but due to the amount of known history and the potential length believe a lot of stuff will be omitted
@ On second thought, the production standards of the movie are quite good I hear. How they recreated the look of New York City in the early 1960s. May be with seeing for that alone. It’s about moviemaking after all..
"A voice that sounded like it came from the middle of the earth." Bob has such a way with words.
He should write a couple of song.
johnny cash is from agartha
Maybe he deserves a Nobel Prize for his words.
to see both of them on film in the same shot is priceless !!!

I wish these two had recorded more together. Their different vocal styles sounded great together.
Two of the "Top Two" ever.

Vietnam is a great watch. Very sad but many lessons and a little healing at the end.
It is epic. And it uses music of the time very well throughout.

2 legends
"I Still Miss Someone" is a song lots of folks have covered.
The term "coconut" can refer to the whole coconut palm, the seed, or the fruit, which botanically is a drupe, not a nut.
Well, the reason Bob knew the song better than Johnny was that Bob had changed the melody!
@@simonvaughan6017 yup he changed it bc he couldnt sing in the key johnny wrote it in lol
Still think they should've made at least one album together (after Bootleg Series 15 we got 6 songs with them together, and they're just marvellous)
