  • I have returned to my beloved island and country for the fourth time with a singular purpose: to attend the grand opening ceremony of our Village Education Center in Polonnaruwa. This series on Sri Lanka will be brief, consisting of only five videos, after which I must depart. During my short visit, I endeavored to capture as much footage as possible to showcase the country's beauty from new locations in the central region. I appreciate your support, and I hope you enjoy the series.

Gal vihara is 900 years old , Buddha stading and resting is called mudra in different poses. King had his workmen build three caves in the rock after finishing the temple: the Vijjadhara Guha ('cave of the spirits of knowledge'), the Nissina Patima Lena ('cave of the sitting image'), and the Nipanna Patima Guha ('cave of the sleeping image').[2] Although they are described as 'caves', only the Vijjadhara Guha is a cave, while the others were image houses similar to the Thivanka and Lankathilaka, with their walls connected to the rock face. These walls, which were evidently decorated with frescoes,[3] have since been destroyed and only their bases now remain

@@rathy_v here are the EXTREMELY wrong info in ur comment but i make it right..,
Ravana is a legend..and according to the legend he was born in North india with a brahmin background..
      Sinhalese ancestors came here 545BCE..
Sinhalese ancestors intermarriage with indigenous tribal people.. the yakshas and nagas.. both groups were prakrit speakers..
Anuradhapura kingdom stands on the island for well over an 1400 years.. after the south indian invader ellalan killed sinhalese king Asela he made the northern parts a new kingdom called jaffna.. it was easy because in chola invading era lots of tamils settled there in northern parts.. that's the first tamil kingdom in sri lanka with evidence.. Anuradhapura never was tamil.. but when sinhalese migrated to even more down south tamils settled Anuradhapura area.. so, that's how some tamils suggest that those areas were theirs.. bruh..
I mean tamiks can't even understand those ancient inscriptions in that area.. cuz most of those are written in old sinhala.. there are onky two shiva temples which older than 800 years.. those are in polonnaruwa and according to sources they were made by
Cholas..RUWANWALI SEYA,JETHAWANARAMA are great buddhist sites built by sinhalese.. cholas don't even have such great structures in their own home country.. so how do even tamils made those here..? No point.. I mean why u r not buddhist if tamiks then were buddhis..?
What ever you say sinhaa will be the oldest living indo aryan language.. and don't make meaning less dravidianized sinhalese words.. say ANURADHA PURA,DAMBULLA,POLONNARUWA.. there are no any meaningful tamil translation for those names but sinhala does.. cuz they are sinhala.. and tell me why eveyrpart of a tank are well described in Sinhala but not tamil.. ? Cuz its not their work.. at least just search about what u r saying.. I'm almost loosing it looking at your comment..😂 even the name sinhala is older than the name tamil..

1.11.35 - King kaalinga magha burned this area. Still we can see the burned patch on surrounding area - Kalinga Magha or Gangaraja Kalinga Vijayabahu (Tamil: கலிங்க மாகன் / கலிங்க மாகோன் / கங்கராஜ காலிங்க விஜயவாகு மகன், Sinhala: කාලිංග මාඝ) was an invader from the Kingdom of Kalinga who usurped the throne from Parakrama Pandyan II of Polonnaruwa in 1215.[3] A massive migration followed of Sinhalese people to the south and west of Sri Lanka, and into the mountainous interior, as they attempted to escape his power.[4] Magha was the last ruler to have his seat in the traditional northern seat of native power on the island, known as Rajarata; so comprehensive was his destruction of Sinhalese power in the north that all of the successor kingdoms to Rajarata existed primarily in the south of the island.
