    I think one of the main reasons why Craig's work is underappreciated by many fans is that he's not such a "live" member of the band as others. To be clear: most of the time Craig is just staying still and not playing his instrument for the simple reason - he just don't have to. Most of the songs where Craig's talent is fully shown (like Danger - Keep Away, Spiders, Tattered and Torn, etc) are never played live, so, in fact, he never had a lot to do while performing. Maybe that's one of the reasons why some people call him "useless".

    Thank you so much for this. I feel like Craig and Sid’s contributions to Slipknot get overlooked a lot. They help build and contribute to the overall atmosphere of some songs. It’s sad to see so many of the originals gone. Rest easy Joey and Paul and we’ll miss you, Craig. Wish you all the best.

    For those who are confused between the Sid/ Craig parts let me clear this up. In People=Shit Sid is doing the scratching. But if you pay attention to the sounds behind the scratching, that gloomy sound effect that harmonizes with Sid that would be Craig. On 515 yes that is Sid screaming death. He was recorded after his grandfather passed away and he was not able to finish his parts before his Grandfather passed away. He was in a dark place and the guys made sure to capture the raw moment. Craig then sampled it as the first track although many people give all the credit to Sid. For Heretic anthem Craig originally sampled the numbers but gave the track to Sid who re sampled it. They both lay claim to the sample. As a Craigologist I have learned that you can tell the difference between Sid and Craig due to a certain sound. Craigs sound is so distinct and long time listeners who have the ear can easily pluck out his parts. They use different audio devices that have their own distinct sound But it takes years of practice to home the sound. Hope this helps out!

    Great video man! I don't know about studio, but live, Sid actually does the countdown (6 6 6 5 4 3 2 1 ) in Heretic Anthem. Everything else is spot on beautiful Craig work.

    • @GianSolo
      @GianSolo  Год назад +5

      Interesting! I did not know this for when they play it live but it's simply because....I'm get too excited sometimes lol

    • @rorz999
      @rorz999 Год назад +9

      Yep you're entirely correct. After the first '6' Sid cuts the sound on the mixer using the crossfader, pulls the record back to the start of the '6', brings the volume back using the crossfader, lets go of the record so the '6' plays again, repeats this whole thing one more time before letting it continue to '7'.
      If you're a turntablist you can pick up on stuff like that. However, while it's sometimes obvious which parts are Sid and which parts are Craig, other times it is less clear even to someone who knows about sampling and turntablism

    Damm dude! thats the kind of videos I was looking for since so much time.. Ive always been fascinated by Craig's work, its my fav member along with paul, joey and mick. Thank you so much for making this, he deserves this tribute and that fans notice more his amazings ambiances.
    If I had to add some samples to your video, I would take the intro of H377 (i'm not sure whats his parts or sid's tho), the Sade's intro, Hivemind intro also! And also the outro of Left behind. I 100% agree the outro of Sic is golden, its iconic to me!!
    I also thought the part you pointed on People=shit was done by Sid, you sure?
    Also, at 0:50 in Adderall, I believe its a kind of industrial sound, made by him? It recalls the industrial sounds on Slipknot (mfkr) intro and dogfish rising intro and its soooo nice to have to album starting with a bit of that.
    Anyway, sorry for talking too much, theres so much to talk about his art!

    Sid actually does the countdown in heretic anthem. And Craig has always been an inspiration with my music as well. I mean some of his work is actually quite haunting but also it's intruiging. He's always overlooked but damn he came up with some awesome stuff with slipknot. That's a mantle that can't be easily replaced.
